About The Position

Business Group on Health is recruiting for a Director of Information Systems and Technology. This is a hands-on leadership position, operating in a small, agile function, serving as both the organization's primary technology practitioner and strategic advisor. While accountable for strategy, planning and governance, the Director also directly executes and supports selected technical initiatives, configurations, and integrations, leveraging external vendor-supported services for specialized expertise and scale. The Director of Information Systems and Technology provides oversight for a portfolio of technology systems. The Director will assist in the development and execution of the organization’s technology strategy. This role ensures that technology effectively supports the organization’s mission, member services, organizational efficiency, data protection and long-term sustainability. This role provides oversight of the organization’s technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with programmatic, strategic, and operational priorities. The Director oversees technical elements related to systems applications, cybersecurity, data management and vendor supported services, in close partnership with organizational leaders. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director collaborates closely with the Vice President of Member Experience and other key leaders to ensure technology resources are practical, secure, and aligned with organizational needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or similar field; Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive IT experience required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to mission-driven work and collaborative leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience working with non-technical executives and communicating complex technical issues in plain language.
  • Demonstrated experience translating business-needs into technology roadmaps and vendor-deliverable requirements.
  • Familiarity with IT service management concepts (e.g., ITIL 4) and the ability to apply them pragmatically.
  • Experience with the software development life cycle.
  • Proven track record in IT strategic planning, systems implementation and digital transformation, as well as project and product management.
  • Strong understanding of and experience implementing cybersecurity, compliance, and data protection controls.
  • Experience working with networks, enterprise-level applications (CRM, LMS, FMS), data management, analytics and business intelligence.
  • Experience with integrating platforms and service.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Fluency in business case development and enterprise resource planning.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills. A collaborator and problem solver with strict attention to detail.
  • Deploys critical thinking and leadership skills throughout the scope of work.
  • Experience with leading technical projects across all phases and frameworks (agile, hybrid, waterfall) and engaging with all levels of stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work on a variety of tasks and handle competing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient computer skills, with demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite, CRM software, virtual meeting platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manage a wide range of assigned projects on a day-to-day basis with moderate supervision.
  • The ability to work effectively on team projects; collaborating with other colleagues to carry out the organization’s goals and objectives.
