About The Position

Wayfinder is looking for a Director of Impact & Evaluation who can define, measure, and communicate the real-world outcomes of our product. Sitting at the intersection of data, research, and product, this leader will build our impact measurement systems, produce district-facing insights, and guide product decisions that center on efficacy. This role is ideal for someone who is equal parts analytical and educator-minded, with a passion for translating data into action. The Director of Impact + Evaluation will report to the Chief Product Officer. We strongly encourage people from traditionally underrepresented populations in tech - such as women, People of Color, People with Disabilities, and LGBTQ+ people, etc - to apply!

Requirements

  • 5+ years in program evaluation, education research, data analytics, or a similar role.
  • Deep understanding of K–12 systems, including how schools, districts, and educators make decisions and define success.
  • Strong data analysis skills (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python/R)
  • Comfort with product analytics tools (i.e. Mixpanel, Amplitude, and Hotjar)
  • Expertise in data visualization and building impactful dashboards/presentations.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience developing or working with theories of change, logic models, or educational frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with product, engineering, or cross-functional teams on data-related initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of measurement principles (validity, reliability, survey design, outcomes rubrics, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in edtech, SEL, student success, or instructional technology companies.
  • Direct experience working in schools, districts, or education nonprofits.
  • Experience leading mixed-methods research projects (quantitative + qualitative).
  • Experience building customer-facing dashboards or reporting tools within software.
  • Experience presenting program impact to senior district leaders or external partners.
  • Graduate degree in education, data science, psychology, program evaluation, public policy, or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Inform Wayfinder’s organizational approach to measuring student, teacher, and school-level outcomes across all products.
  • Design and implement mixed-methods evaluation frameworks to assess the efficacy and ROI of Wayfinder programs and tools.
  • Create models, dashboards, and data stories that clearly demonstrate Wayfinder’s impact to users.
  • Identify the outcomes that Wayfinder can influence and establish realistic attribution/causation narratives.
  • Produce compelling one-off reports, case studies, dashboards, and insights for district partners and internal teams.
  • Communicate complex insights in clear, educator-friendly ways for external and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain trusted, accurate data pipelines and ensure clean, consistent data sources.
  • Conduct regular analysis of product data to identify the features and behavior patterns that most strongly drive usage and retention, and recommend initiatives and product enhancements that deepen and expand those high-impact areas.
  • Make recommendations for product features that enable schools to self-assess their Wayfinder impact.
  • Evaluate and refine internal data collection practices to improve the reliability, validity, and usability of insights.
  • Work with the Customer Success and Sales teams to support data-informed conversations with districts.
  • Train internal teams on how to understand and use data to articulate Wayfinder’s efficacy.
  • Collaborate with research partners, academic institutions, or third-party evaluators when needed.
  • Build and maintain an overarching theory of change for Wayfinder.
  • Advise leadership on impact strategy and ensure alignment across product, implementation, and research.
  • Monitor the evolving SEL/Whole Child/Character Ed research landscape and bring evidence-based thinking into Wayfinder’s roadmap.
