About The Position

The Director of Housing Services plays a vital role in managing and enhancing the program designed to support individuals and families facing housing instability and employment barriers. This position oversees the supervisor of temporary housing, family centered services and employment programs, ensuring participants receive comprehensive, high-quality support to achieve housing stability and economic independence. This position also oversees case management services for eight supportive housing units and a seasonal warming center. The Director leads a team, fosters strategic partnerships, and upholds compliance with organizational policies and funding requirements. The ideal candidate is a compassionate, detail-oriented, and results-driven leader with strong experience in social services, program management, and team supervision. This position is pivotal in ensuring that housing services and employment assistance programs are delivered effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with the organization’s mission to promote self-sufficiency and stability.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s preferred, in social work, Human Services, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Possession of a valid NYS Driver’s license
  • 3-5 years of experience in social services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role will be considered
  • Experience working within a human services setting preferred.
  • Proven experience managing programs related to housing, homelessness, employment, or workforce development.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with community partners and maintain professional relationships.
  • Flexibility adapting to the needs of clients and varying work schedules.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, plan, and complete work projects with minimal direction
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to effectively meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to work in the following software programs: Windows, Microsoft Office, and multiple online software platforms as required by funders and partner organizations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviors and attitudes which support organizational mission, philosophy, and policies
  • Ability to work in a cooperative and helpful manner with all individuals
  • Willingness and ability to foster agency and program wide cooperation and teamwork through use of positive/constructive communication techniques
  • Continuous use of a reliable, registered and insured vehicle.
  • Demonstrate full adherence to the Code of Conduct and all policies/procedures related to compliance and ethical business practices.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Agency Mission Statement.
  • Provide effective, equitable, understandable and respectful quality care and services that are responsive to diverse cultural health beliefs and practices, preferred languages, health literacy and other communication needs.
  • Adheres to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations including, but not limited to, those governing confidentiality, privacy, program, billing, and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular team meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations.
  • Provide guidance and intervention in complex or high-risk client cases.
  • Attend all required leadership meetings.
  • Attends monthly meetings with finance.
  • Maintain a client-centered approach, promoting dignity and empowerment for program participants.
  • Maintain accurate program records, including client files, case notes, and service documentation, in compliance with confidentiality and reporting standards.
  • Supervise employment caseworkers, ensuring they provide individualized career counseling, resume building, and interview preparation services.
  • Attend all yearly inspections and submit all required corrective action plans.
  • Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on program performance.
  • Ensure alignment with organizational goals and compliance with funding and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains communication with DSS contacts as needed.
  • Review and approve all service plans.
  • Maintains program budgets and understands allowable expenses.
  • Understands the contract between CCSL and DSS as well as ESSHI grant funding.
  • Completes program ordering.
  • Attends occasional evening/weekend agency fundraising events.
  • Ensures that all CCSL clients are treated with dignity and respect, always upholding their confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
