About The Position

We are currently seeking a Director of Government Auditing to lead the planning, execution, and review of audits for government entities and nonprofit clients. This hybrid position is based in Oakland, MD , and offers the opportunity to provide hands-on leadership, support client relationships, and contribute to the strategic direction of the audit practice. This role is ideal for a seasoned CPA with a strong foundation in Audit & Assurance (A&A) and a track record of conducting government audits , including financial statement preparation and single audits .

Requirements

• CPA designation (required)
• 68 years of progressive experience in public accounting
• Significant experience in Audit & Assurance (A&A) , with a focus on government and nonprofit audits
• Proficiency in financial statement audits and single audits
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements, mentor staff, and communicate effectively with stakeholders

Nice To Haves

• Experience with CCH ProSystem fx Engagement is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, review, and delivery of complex government audit engagements in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor and ensuring top-tier client service.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to audit staff and ensure adherence to firm policies and audit methodologies.
• Oversee project timelines, budgets, and engagement scopes, ensuring efficient and accurate execution.
• Support internal process improvements and uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and compliance.
• Utilize audit tools such as CCH ProSystem fx Engagement to streamline workflow and enhance audit accuracy (preferred experience).
