About The Position

The Director of Finance for KAFASI provides strategic leadership and oversight of the organization’s financial management functions to ensure fiscal integrity, compliance, and operational excellence. This position is responsible for directing day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, reporting, cash management, and internal controls, while aligning financial practices with KAFASI’s mission and agency short- and long-term goals. The Director partners with executive leadership to support sound decision-making, maximize resources, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as grant and funding requirements.

Requirements

  • 3 Years’ Finance/Accounting experience
  • Associate/BA in Accounting/Business Administration
  • Experience with general Accounting/budget principles
  • Experience in data collection, entry, and reporting with great attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication abilities with aptitude in problem-solving
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, Excel, and Google Sheets

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall financial management of KAFASI
  • Produce, review, and report KAFASI annual budget
  • Manage budget worksheets, annual salary and percentage allocations
  • Perform accounting analyses to make sure that the agency’s financial statements are correct and in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and legal compliance
  • Work with agencies and county auditors on financial accuracy during the year and yearly audits
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the county, auditors, agencies, and accountants for budget allocations, financial reporting and compliance related communications
  • Produce financial reports related to budgets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses etc. monthly and as needed
  • Review, monitor, and manage all department budgets
  • Oversee and monitor financial compliance to ensure legal and audit compliance with all agencies
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, cash flows, and balance sheets
  • Investigate and report means to improve profitability
  • Maintain an accurate filing and record keeping system for all financial statements and company documents
  • Assist the Executive Director and Budget Managers in developing and monitoring departments, projects, and organizational budgets
  • Review, update, and report on internal control and financial and procurement policies
  • Calculate and run payroll according to hours worked incorporating leaves, PTO, and overtime
  • Collect and verify timekeeping information for all employees
  • Update all payroll records by entering adjustments on pay rates, employee status changes etc.
  • Oversee and manage the scope of work of Business Office Manager
  • Oversee timely periodical payments either by preparing and administering checks or making direct deposits through a bank payment system
