ONTARIO CONVENTION CENTER & ONT FIELD Legends operates both the Ontario Convention Center, a premier meeting and event facility, and ONT Field, a new 6,500-capacity Minor League Baseball stadium and year-round event destination. ONT Field features premium seating, team facilities, a full concourse, multiple fan “neighborhoods,” LED scoreboard systems, and a natural grass playing surface maintained to professional baseball standards. THE ROLE The Director of Facilities & Operations provides operational leadership and oversight for the Ontario Convention Center and ONT Field, ensuring seamless facility operations, maintenance, event readiness, safety, and compliance across both venues. This position manages a wide range of operational functions including building maintenance, engineering, turf and field management, housekeeping, vendor management, technology infrastructure, and special projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum six (6) years management level experience in operations for large public assembly venues, hotels, stadiums, arenas, or similar facilities.
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of: Facility operations, maintenance, safety, and building systems Wireless technology applications and IT infrastructure Network and multi-system environments HVAC, fire systems, sprinklers, indoor air quality, escalators/elevators Business English and math
  • Ability to: Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing Establish positive working relationships with employees, clients, the public, and team staff Multi-task and remain detail-oriented in fast-paced environments Lead diverse operational teams across two venues
  • Skill to: Operate standard office and communications equipment Use Microsoft Office Suite at an advanced level Drive and operate vehicles/equipment as required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Facility Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience managing operations for large public assembly, sports venues, stadiums, ballparks, or outdoor event facilities.
  • Knowledge of sports turf management, irrigation controls, moisture management, and field preparation standards.
  • Familiarity with MiLB/MLB facility guidelines and broadcast requirements.
  • Understanding of stadium audio/visual systems, LED boards, bowl sound, and game-day technology.

Responsibilities

  • Manages Managers and Supervisors across the following functional areas: Housekeeping Operations Engineering Grounds & Turf Maintenance (including BrightView coordination) Stadium Field & Equipment Operations Carpenters, Electricians, Plumbers, Technical Services Ballpark Operations & Game Day Support
  • Carries out supervisory duties in accordance with Legends Global policies and applicable laws, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating performance, issuing discipline in coordination with HR, addressing complaints, and resolving operational issues.
  • Directs and supervises all operational aspects of both facilities, including maintenance, engineering, housekeeping, grounds and compliance with Cal/OSHA, Life Safety, ADA, and fire codes in coordination with the Director of Security
  • Oversees maintenance and proper functioning of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, environmental
  • Manages vendor and contractor relationships, service agreements, and RFP/bid processes.
  • Maintains accurate preventive maintenance schedules and work-order systems for both facilities.
  • Coordinates operational activities to ensure seamless facility readiness for events, conventions, trade shows, baseball games, special events, and concerts.
  • Assists with annual operating budgets and recommends capital projects, long-range improvements, and asset replacement plans.
  • Authorizes purchase of equipment and supplies within established budget guidelines.
  • Ensures all safety policies, risk-management procedures, emergency plans, and compliance programs are followed and properly documented in coordination with the Director of Security
  • Conducts regular staff meetings, communicates policy updates, and ensures operational alignment across venues.
  • Prepares required reports and maintains yearly inventory of all equipment.
  • Serves as Manager-on-Duty (MOD) as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the General Manager.
  • Oversees daily stadium operations including: playing field, dugouts, bullpens, clubhouses, concourse, seating, suites, press box, scoreboards/LED systems, and broadcast infrastructure.
  • Works closely with the stadium GM and Team (DBH) to ensure stadium readiness for all baseball games, practices, events, and activations.
  • Ensures compliance with MiLB facility standards, MLB Player Development guidelines, and stadium best practices.
  • Manages key stadium vendors including: BrightView (turf & field maintenance) FIT (IT infrastructure) HVAC/lighting contractors providers Turf/star equipment suppliers (Toro, Terraplas, etc.)
  • Oversees maintenance and operation of stadium systems including: Sports lighting & lighting control systems Stadium Wi-Fi & network infrastructure CCTV, access control, and systems LED video board, ribbon boards, audio, and broadcast systems
  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of the natural grass playing field including mowing, edging, watering, clay and mound/plate management, moisture and irrigation control, and drainage systems.
  • Oversees stadium FF&E and field-specific equipment: tarps, netting, protective screens, bullpen mounds, bases, field protection systems, batting cages, and other game-day assets.
  • Leads operational planning for stadium events including staffing, cleaning, waste management, and guest experience measures.
  • Maintains clear communication channels with the team to ensure proper alignment of venue-controlled vs. team-controlled operational responsibilities.
  • Develops and implements stadium-specific emergency and incident-response procedures including severe weather readiness and field-safety protocols.
  • Ensures safe storage, handling, and usage of all field equipment, field access protocols, and foul-ball safety measures.
