The Director of EHS leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety programs across OmniCable’s 18 distribution centers, corporate functions, and transportation activities. This role ensures regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT) and embeds safety into the company’s core business architecture. The Director oversees the deployment of OmniCable’s EHS management system (Sospes), drives a proactive, data-informed approach to risk mitigation, and fosters a culture of Zero Harm through collaboration, engagement, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Typically requires minimum 10 years of progressive EHS leadership in multi-site manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environments. Prior management of leadership roles required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or business discipline. Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management preferred.
  • Expertise in OSHA, EPA, DOT, and FMCSA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement company-wide EHS strategy aligned with operational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulations.
  • Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Conduct audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify improvements.
  • Provide expertise, coaching, and guidance to DC leadership and regional safety specialists.
  • Monitor training effectiveness and compliance.
  • Lead the corporate safety committee and facilitate monthly safety meetings.
  • Maintain and update safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Lead investigations of workplace incidents and near misses.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers and insurance for claims management.
  • Develop root cause analyses and corrective action plans.
  • Serve as primary administrator for Sospes EHS management system.
  • Update training courses and documentation.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
