About The Position

The Director of Enrollment and Family Engagement provides strategic and operational leadership for district-wide student enrollment, registration, and family engagement initiatives. This role ensures equitable access to district schools and programs, strengthens partnerships between families and schools, and develops systems that promote transparency, responsiveness, and inclusivity across the district community. The Director oversees the entire enrollment process—from outreach to registration and placement—and leads efforts to engage families as active partners in their children’s education. The Director is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Welcome Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, public administration, communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in K–12 education, enrollment services, and/or family/community engagement.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in education leadership, public policy, or related discipline.
  • Bilingual or multilingual proficiency.
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license in: Any Academic PreK-12 License in Teacher , Teacher Specialist , Administrator , or Professional Support Personnel . Supervisor/Director — Level depends on prerequisite license

  • Experience using student information systems and data visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations governing enrollment and School Choice.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the district’s enrollment and placement processes.
  • Develop and maintain clear, inclusive enrollment policies, procedures, and timelines.
  • Manage enrollment data systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with district and state requirements.
  • Collaborate with school leaders to ensure equitable access to programs.
  • Analyze enrollment trends to inform planning, staffing, and facilities decisions.
  • Coordinate annual School Choice, kindergarten enrollment, and transfer processes.
  • Oversee Home School education, reviewing and approving annual home education plans from homeschooling families, collecting and reviewing end-of-year assessments, and all other homeschooling requirements pursuant to MGL c. 76, § 1, and Care & Protection of Charles.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive family engagement framework aligned with district goals and priorities.
  • Partner with schools to strengthen two-way communication and family partnerships that support student success.
  • Design and facilitate family workshops, listening sessions, and multilingual outreach events.
  • Collaborate with communications staff to develop materials and messaging that are inclusive, culturally responsive, and accessible in multiple languages.
  • Maintain a welcoming, service-oriented approach in all interactions with families and community members.
  • Monitor enrollment, demographic, and mobility data to identify trends and address inequities in access.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for district leadership, the school committee, and the community.
  • Utilize data to inform outreach strategies and assess the impact of engagement efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding student records and enrollment eligibility.
  • Oversee FISS, Family Engagement, and informational programming.
  • Provide and/or collaborate on professional development for staff on family and community outreach and engagement.
  • Serve as the district’s primary liaison for enrollment and family engagement matters.
  • Collaborate across departments—including Communications, Equity, Multilingual Learners, Special Education, and IT—to ensure coordinated services for families.
  • Supervise and support staff in enrollment and family engagement roles.
  • Provide professional learning for school-based staff on effective family engagement practices.
  • McKinney Vento Point of Contact for state grants, funding, resources, and programming
  • Foster Care Point of Contact for oversight of designation and BID process for all Foster Care students
