WHY WE’RE LOOKING: We are seeking a Director of Engineering who can help us build new web experiences targeting the automotive dealership industry. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with leadership skills and is willing to contribute hands-on to code. WHAT YOU’LL DO: As Director of Engineering, you’ll lead a team responsible for delivering a modern web product. This role blends hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership and people management. You will be both a technical authority and a people leader, ensuring that the team is aligned, productive, and continuously improving.

Requirements

BS in Computer Science or similar field with 8+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years of managing or leading engineers directly
Strong technical background with hands-on experience in Angular/React, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java/C#, MariaDB/MySQL/PostgreSQL, and using and designing for AWS cloud services
Experience in SaaS product development, preferably in the automotive industry
Strong understanding of agile methodologies, and experience leading sprint planning and estimation
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
Proven track record of building high-performing teams, delivering projects on schedule, and balancing strategic vision with tactical execution

Responsibilities

Foster psychological safety and build an engineering team focused on excellence, reliability, and predictable delivery
Collaborate with senior team members to ensure teams have resources to achieve goals while managing cross-team relationships
Set and uphold standards for engineering quality, including defining and enforcing practices for code reviews, testing, and documentation
Maintain technical proficiency and participate in code reviews as needed
Guide architectural decisions for scalability and maintainability
Support infrastructure and deployment strategy, including working with AWS services, CI/CD pipelines, and managing environments
Collaborate closely with Product Management to plan, scope, and prioritize features that deliver value while minimizing technical debt
Mentor senior engineers, optimize team performance, and establish clear accountability
Engage with stakeholders to align team objectives with business priorities and craft development strategies supporting long-term growth
Identify opportunities to enhance system reliability while ensuring compliance with security and regulatory standards
Develop internal policies and training programs to improve team skillsets
Oversee hiring, compensation, and performance management while driving recruitment efforts
Collaborate with HR on onboarding processes and employee retention strategies
