About The Position

As the Director of Engineering – Retail Media Network (RMN), you’ll lead the Reliability Engineering and Enablement organization responsible for driving quality, automation, and operational excellence across Best Buy’s RMN platform. This role focuses on ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability through modern engineering practices, automation frameworks, and enablement initiatives. Success in this role requires strategic leadership, technical depth in quality and DevOps, and a passion for continuous improvement. This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work some days on-site at the Best Buy location listed on this posting and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. Requirements

  • 15+ years in software engineering or quality engineering for large-scale platforms.
  • 10+ years' experience in quality engineering, reliability, and automation frameworks.
  • 5+ years leading engineering teams, including managing managers or senior engineers.
  • Strong experience in DevOps, CI/CD, performance engineering, and release management.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Reliability Engineering and Enablement strategy across RMN domains, including campaign execution, monetization, reporting, content workflows, mediation layers, and ad delivery.
  • Define and implement Quality Engineering strategies, including test automation frameworks, AI-driven testing, and performance engineering.
  • Oversee systems integration testing, performance testing, test data and environment management, and automation enablement.
  • Drive DevOps maturity, CI/CD optimization, and release management for predictable, high-quality deployments.
  • Accelerate delivery through developer productivity initiatives, tooling, and automation.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to embed reliability and quality into the roadmap.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of 10–15 engineers, including specialists in automation, performance, and DevOps.
