About The Position

Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Emotional Supports will lead the vision, systems, and implementation of student emotional and mental health supports at Freire Middle School, ensuring all students have access to responsive, data-driven, and trauma-informed services that enable them to thrive academically and personally.

Requirements

• LCSW or LPC
• Master's degree required in social work or counseling
• 3+ years of experience in school-based counseling, social work, or student supports
• Experience with MTSS, restorative practices, or trauma-informed approaches
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement the school’s emotional supports vision, including MTSS-aligned Tier 1–3 systems
• Oversee counseling services and supervise emotional support staff
• Coordinate crisis response, risk assessments, and safety planning
• Partner with staff to build a restorative, trauma-informed school culture
• Use data to monitor student well-being and guide interventions
• Manage external partnerships and support family communication
