About The Position

Lead emergency services at a 173-bed Magnet-designated hospital in Central Kentucky, recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky. Oversee a 28-bed Level III Trauma Center with 35,000-45,000 annual visits (85-100 daily), managing 60-65 FTEs. This role provides strategic leadership for clinical quality, operations, patient experience, and financial performance. Frankfort offers small-town charm with access to Louisville, Lexington, and Nashville (2.5 hours).

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current Kentucky RN license or compact license
  • Minimum 1 year emergency services leadership experience
  • Proven track record of strong metrics and operational improvements
  • Expertise in emergency operations, trauma care, and high-volume patient flow
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills
  • Financial acumen and budget management experience

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration
  • 3+ years emergency services director experience
  • Experience in similar or larger emergency departments
  • Magnet or trauma center background
  • CEN or emergency nursing certification

Responsibilities

  • Direct all emergency services operations including clinical practice, staffing, patient throughput, and 24/7 departmental coverage.
  • Implement evidence-based practices and policies to advance patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage departmental budget including revenue forecasting, expense monitoring, labor productivity, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Foster accountability and collaboration through interdisciplinary communication, staff recognition, and engagement strategies.
  • Ensure efficient patient flow through volume forecasting, care coordination, and admission/discharge planning.
  • Monitor benchmarks, quality metrics, and patient satisfaction to identify gaps and implement improvements.
  • Build high-performing teams through talent acquisition, competency development, coaching, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with physicians and leaders to enhance services, develop programs, and drive emergency department growth.
  • Lead patient experience initiatives using feedback mechanisms and evidence-based practices.
  • Maintain equipment, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance per accreditation standards.
