About The Position

A leading Level I Trauma-designated Children’s Hospital in coastal Georgia is seeking a dynamic Director of Emergency Services – Pediatrics to lead a high-volume pediatric emergency department. This role provides executive oversight of pediatric emergency operations within a dedicated children’s hospital environment. The department manages approximately 41,000 annual visits (112 daily average) and includes 18 pediatric ER beds and 50 inpatient pediatric beds . The ideal candidate is a passionate pediatric emergency leader who combines strong operational discipline with a collaborative, team-focused leadership style that fosters engagement and a child-centered care culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 1+ year of Manager or Director-level leadership experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of Emergency Department experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of recent Pediatric Emergency experience (Mother/Baby, NICU, or Labor & Delivery backgrounds will not be considered)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • Experience in high-volume pediatric emergency departments
  • Level I Trauma exposure

Responsibilities

  • Lead evidence-based pediatric emergency practices to enhance safety and outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and trauma standards
  • Optimize patient throughput and care coordination processes
  • Develop and implement pediatric emergency nursing policies and standards
  • Monitor clinical performance metrics and implement improvement strategies
  • Drive strategies to enhance pediatric patient and family experience
  • Foster a culture of accountability, compassion, and service excellence
  • Utilize feedback mechanisms to elevate patient satisfaction and engagement
  • Lead and develop a team of approximately 46 FTEs , including leadership support
  • Foster employee engagement and professional development
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration across departments
  • Ensure staff competencies align with pediatric emergency care standards
  • Partner with physicians and executive leadership to expand pediatric services
  • Identify opportunities for growth and differentiation
  • Support volume forecasting and service line development initiatives
  • Participate in budget development and financial forecasting
  • Monitor revenue, labor management, and operating expenses
  • Identify and implement cost-efficiency initiatives
