About The Position

We’re looking for a passionate and hands-on Director of Education to lead our school program within a supportive residential treatment setting providing 24-hour treatment in a non-traditional school year. In this role, you’ll guide a dedicated team of educators, shape high-quality instruction, and ensure students receive individualized academic and behavioral support in an asynchronized learning environment. You’ll be an active and present leader who collaborates daily with clinical and residential staff to promote continuity of care. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the Education field.
  • Five (5) or more years teaching experience, preferably in a special education setting (middle and high school experience preferred).
  • At least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • At least three (3) years of experience working with students with disabilities.
  • Post Graduate Professional Licensure in Virginia, with an endorsement in school administration and supervision or special education.
  • A leadership style that is supportive, engaged, and team centered.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and daily operational oversight of our educational program.
  • Support and mentor teachers and educational support staff.
  • Lead curriculum planning and instructional improvement efforts.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and developing new team members.
  • Conduct classroom observations and give supportive, actionable feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with VDOE and VAISEF accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical and residential teams to support continuity of care.
  • Promote a safe and structured learning environment for young people with severe mental health diagnoses.
  • Manage department budgeting and purchasing needs.
