About The Position

Next Step Healthcare has an exciting new opportunity for a Director of Clinical Education (DCE) The Director of Clinical Education will provide leadership to the Department of Nursing by creating a framework of educational services that promote the growth and development of the licensed and certified staff in coordination of corporate clinical education programs.

Requirements

  • Current RN license, BSN preferred, in the State of Massachusetts
  • 3 - 5 years of clinical experience, Long Term Care preferred
  • Previous Staff Development and Education experience, required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal, training and management/leadership skills
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures and state and federal regulations
  • Ability to travel throughout region

Responsibilities

  • Strives to meet the clinical educational needs of staff within the organization.
  • Provides an annual calendar of clinical corporate educational activities for staff including educational needs identified by nursing leadership and all relevant quality improvement activities.
  • Identifies essential competencies for licensed and non-licensed staff within the organization and assures appropriate educational opportunities exist to promote the growth and the development of staff.
  • Plans, delivers, and evaluates educational programs conducted for clinical staff in collaboration with the clinical leadership of Next Step Healthcare to measure effectiveness.
  • Provides oversite of Facility ADON/SDCs to actively participate in unit-based orientation of licensed and certified staff within the Department of Nursing.
  • Solicits involvement of unit staff as preceptors and mentors.
  • Assures all necessary, mandatory annual education (fire safety, infection control, residents rights, Hazard communication) required by regulatory standards are available for all staff; track attendance.
  • Schedule live presentations for mandatory in-service on a rotating basis year.
  • Ensure adherence to use of the Relias online training system.
  • Coordinates and provides oversite of BLS, CPR, and First Aid education for direct care staff as required; offer optional training for all other employees.
  • Assist in developing, implementing and conducting relevant in-service training programs as requested by the clinical leadership.
  • Assist in identifying areas in which training is necessary.
  • Participates in developing, maintaining and updating written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the organization with regards to Employee Health and staff education.
  • Assume leadership role in identifying opportunities for improvement, defining goals and developing solutions.
