Sweet Briar College invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Education Department at any level to start July 1, 2026. Rank will be determined based on experience. In this position the faculty member will serve as director of the education program and teach courses that lead to teacher licensure in both our undergraduate and graduate programs. The successful candidate will be an engaged scholar-teacher with expertise in the areas of curriculum, assessment, differentiated instruction, and action research. The faculty member will also be responsible for supervising clinical and student teaching experiences and advising undergraduate and graduate students in our Masters of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.). Previous experience with national accreditation of education programs is preferred. Teaching load is 3 course equivalents per semester and may be adjusted based on administrative needs. At Sweet Briar College, elementary education and teaching majors may earn a B.A. and licensure in four years or earn a M.A.T. with licensure in a five-year program. Students also can earn teacher licensure in secondary education in biology, chemistry, English, history and social science, or mathematics and PreK-12 education in dance arts, theatre arts, or visual arts through the M.A.T.
