About The Position

Richard Bland College (RBC) is a two-year, residential, liberal arts transfer institution focused on preparing students for successful transfer to highly ranked colleges and universities. Often described as a hidden gem just outside the Tri-Cities region, RBC offers a distinctive learning environment on more than 750 acres of scenic wetlands, tranquil forest, and the Commonwealth’s oldest and largest pecan grove. Richard Bland College seeks an exceptional Director of Dual Enrollment & High School Programs to lead and expand the College’s dual enrollment and high school initiatives. This position plays a critical role in strengthening academic rigor, supporting seamless transitions from secondary to postsecondary education, and cultivating strong partnerships with local high schools and educators. Serving as a vital bridge between high school and college education, the Director provides innovative leadership, strategic vision, and collaborative oversight to ensure students access high-quality early college experiences that foster both academic and personal growth. Through program development, partnership building, and continuous improvement, this role advances Richard Bland College’s mission of educational excellence and community engagement.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Experience working in high schools, colleges, or higher education institutions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Virginia dual enrollment policies, guidelines, and implementation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and apply knowledge of secondary and postsecondary education systems, policies, and emerging trends to support dual enrollment and high school programs.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate curriculum aligned with dual enrollment requirements, accreditation standards, and educational best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with regional and national accreditation standards applicable to both high schools and colleges.
  • Monitor, interpret, and apply local, state, and federal education laws and regulations related to dual enrollment and early college initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise assigned staff while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing work environment.
  • Develop, implement, and assess strategic plans to support program growth, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments, high school partners, students, parents, and external stakeholders through clear and professional written and verbal communication.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain partnerships with high schools, school districts, and other external stakeholders to advance program goals.
  • Analyze enrollment data, student performance metrics, and program outcomes to inform decision-making and guide improvements.
  • Build and sustain relationships with educators, administrators, community partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify operational and academic challenges and implement effective, timely solutions in a dynamic educational environment.
  • Adapt programs and practices in response to evolving educational policies, trends, and student needs.
  • Uphold ethical standards by ensuring transparency, fairness, and accountability in all actions and decisions.
  • Promote a growth mindset by encouraging professional development, innovation, and continuous learning for self and team members.
  • Center decision-making on the needs and concerns of students, parents, educators, and partner institutions.
  • Encourage creative and forward-thinking approaches to keep programs competitive and aligned with best practices in dual enrollment education.
