About The Position

The Director of Disability Support and Academic Support Center reports to the University Director. The Director has responsibility for coordinating accommodations and related services for students with disabilities; identifying, placing and remediating students with basic skills deficiencies; and providing tutorial and other academic services to all students. The incumbent is responsible to develop and oversee the budget, supervise office staff and student personnel, and serve as a resource to the Fairleigh Dickinson University community. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the University Director.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Services, or related field preferred.
  • Five years of experience is required working with students with disabilities, with a minimum of three years of supervision and budget management experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of section 504 and ADA, including but not limited to: legal issues, higher education, and support services is required.
  • Strong computer skills, and research and statistical reporting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff and administrators.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of students' information in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
  • Available to work non-standard hours including evenings and/or weekends.
  • Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two years of experience in coordinating, scoring and interpreting placement tests at the post-secondary level is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague, Image Now, and webpage content management software is preferred.
