Director of Digital & Radio Content – Cedar Rapids/Waterloo This is a full-time, in-office opportunity. At Townsquare Media Group, we’re looking for a Director of Digital & Radio Content to lead our Cedar Rapids/Waterloo market—overseeing strong local brands and driving audience growth across on-air, digital, social, and live platforms . This is a full-time, in-office leadership role working closely and collaboratively with a talented local team. You’ll set the vision for local content, coach and develop market-leading talent, and play a hands-on role in creating compelling, clickable, and shareable content that resonates with the local community—while partnering closely with sales and leadership to drive revenue and impact. Requirements

  • Demonstrated success as a content leader with strong people management skills
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Strategic mindset with a strong understanding of industry trends and audience behavior
  • On-air programming experience with deep knowledge of content creation and curation
  • Strong writing, communication, and storytelling skills across platforms
  • Familiarity with a wide range of digital assets, tools, and publishing workflows
  • Proven ability to lead in competitive markets and drive measurable results
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to connect content strategy to revenue outcomes
  • Sound judgment, creativity, and a strong desire to win
  • High School Diploma (required)
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and vehicle (required)

Responsibilities

  • Set and execute a clear, competitive vision for local content in the local market
  • Lead, coach, and develop experienced on-air, digital, and production teams to market-leading performance
  • Maintain full ownership of the overall sound, content strategy, and brand execution across all stations
  • Host a live, engaging on-air show on a regular, ongoing basis, preparing daily content that entertains, informs, and connects with the target audience
  • Create and publish a minimum of two original local articles per day for the station website and mobile app
  • Create and oversee compelling local content and digital storytelling across websites, mobile platforms, and social channels
  • Develop and grow talent capable of engaging audiences on multiple platforms—on-air, online, and on-site
  • Foster a positive, high-performance culture that keeps teams engaged and aligned, even when working across multiple brands
  • Build and activate audience “tribes” that engage deeply with content across all channels
  • Design and execute programming clocks, music strategy, and tactical plans to grow time spent listening, audience occasions, and digital reach
  • Oversee sound design, station imaging, and audio architecture—keeping content fresh, creative, and impactful
  • Develop innovative, multi-platform content strategies that drive ratings, digital audience growth, and revenue
  • Partner closely with the sales team to create monetizable programs, sponsorships, promotions, and events for clients
  • Collaborate across programming, sales, production, and leadership teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Attend programming and sales meetings as needed to support alignment and performance
  • Step in as on-air talent when needed for co-hosting, voice tracking, live shows, vacation relief, or emergency coverage
