KSPS PBS is seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Development to lead a strong, established fundraising program generating approximately $4.8 million annually. This is a pivotal leadership role at a mission-driven public media organization serving communities across the Inland Northwest and beyond. Reporting to the President and General Manager, the Director of Development leads an eight-person team responsible for membership, major giving, corporate underwriting, and development operations. This is both a leadership and frontline fundraising position. The next Director will help guide the organization through an important period of transition and opportunity. Following the loss of federal funding, this leader will stabilize and diversify revenue, strengthen donor engagement and stewardship, modernize systems and data practices, and prepare KSPS PBS for a future $30 million capital campaign. In this role, you will: Lead and inspire a talented development team, setting clear goals and building a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Develop and execute strategies to close a $1.2 million funding gap within 24 months while strengthening diversified revenue streams across membership, major gifts, corporate support, foundations, and planned giving. Personally manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 25 to 40 major donor prospects, partnering closely with the President and General Manager on cultivation and solicitation strategy. Strengthen donor stewardship, retention, and moves management processes. Oversee a $1.6 million annual development budget and align fundraising strategy with the organization’s 2024–2026 strategic plan. Evaluate and enhance CRM usage, reporting tools, segmentation strategies, and forecasting to support data-informed decision-making. Help position the organization for campaign readiness, including feasibility planning, lead gift strategy development, and board engagement in preparation for a future capital campaign. Requirements We are looking for a leader who combines strategic vision with operational discipline and a deep respect for mission-driven work. You bring: A bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred). Five to ten years of progressive fundraising leadership experience. Demonstrated success managing diversified revenue streams and meeting ambitious fundraising goals. A proven track record of cultivating and closing major gifts. Experience supervising and mentoring professional fundraising staff. Strong analytical skills and comfort using CRM systems and data to guide strategy and decision-making. CFRE certification, or willingness to obtain certification within 12 months of hire. You are: A collaborative and emotionally intelligent leader who builds trust across teams, donors, and board members. Calm under pressure and steady in politically sensitive or highly visible environments. Data-informed and intellectually rigorous in your approach. A builder who strengthens and improves existing systems rather than starting from scratch. Deeply aligned with the mission and values of public media. Comfortable partnering closely with an actively engaged President and General Manager on fundraising strategy and donor relationships.
