Remote Location - CA Sacramento, California 95834 POSITION OVERVIEW: The Director of Contracts oversees the Contracts Department and leads all initiatives associated with payor contracts. This role is responsible for development and negotiation of contracts on behalf of CARD and developing payor relationships, as well as enforcing the contract if a payor underpays or otherwise fails to honor the terms of the contract. The Director role will have two direct reports to support the work. This position reports to the Chief Government & Payor Relations Officer. This is an exempt, full-time position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years related work experience required and 1-2 years supervisory/management experience preferred
  • Experience in contract negotiations and effective presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to verbally present complex business matters to meet the needs of diverse audiences with precision, ease, and grace
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases
  • Ability to exercise considerable judgment, maintain confidentiality, and act in a diplomatic manner
  • Expert compliance and regulatory knowledge as related to payor and government contracts
  • Ability to work with peers in a team effort
  • Ability to work extended hours when needed
  • English proficiency, both verbal and written

Responsibilities

  • Negotiates contract language, terms and rates for all provider contracts, partnering with the General Counsel office as needed and as appropriate
  • Develops and adheres to all CARD processes for tracking rates and terms of all contracts
  • Supervises contracts analysts, overseeing scope, direction and output of work
  • Collaborates with Compliance and Government Relations departments to reduce risk and ensure alignment of network strategy and governmental policy changes and opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned
