About The Position

This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Director of Community Impact leads the implementation, oversight, and expansion of community engagement initiatives supporting the Y on the Fly Program and related outreach services. This role is responsible for developing strategic partnerships, expanding program services, managing outreach operations, and ensuring high-quality program delivery that provides critical services to youth and families in the areas of nutrition, literacy, aquatic safety, and overall youth development. The Director of Community Impact will use data-driven strategies to increase community reach, improve outcomes, and strengthen the YMCA’s impact across the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Three to five years related to non-profit operations, community engagement, relationship building, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet driving requirements per organizational policy.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office programs, the Google suite, and smartphone usage.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending on the program).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, oversee, and continuously improve community engagement efforts supporting the Y on the Fly program and related outreach initiatives.
  • Develop weekly, monthly, and annual Y on the Fly event schedules in partnership with the supervisor.
  • Develop, execute, and evaluate outreach strategies with the goal of expanding program reach, adding new community sites, and increasing access to critical services.
  • Conduct research on issues impacting the local community and use data gathered to inform service strategies and new initiatives.
  • Develop and implement quality control initiatives to ensure consistent and high-quality program delivery.
  • Develop quarterly financial and statistical analysis reports that include baseline criteria and metrics to measure growth and community impact among individuals and groups.
  • Supervise staff dedicated to the department.
  • Collect and analyze data from program participants, events, and site managers for program evaluation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to create and distribute materials targeted to community audiences and stakeholders.
  • Provide association-wide updates on program achievements, community impact, and upcoming engagement opportunities.
  • Coordinate and conduct community outreach events utilizing the Y on the Fly vans.
  • Ensure events are conducted as scheduled and that vehicles are properly stocked with supplies and appropriately staffed.
  • Provide administrative support for Y on the Fly program operations, including scheduling, reporting, communications, and calendar management.
  • Support marketing and communications efforts, product ordering, event logistics, and documentation.
  • Maintain regular communication with team members, community partners, and donors regarding event schedules and program updates.
  • Complete regular safety inspections of the vehicle fleet, maintain inspection logs, and coordinate routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Attend community meetings, events, and partner engagements to represent the YMCA and expand outreach opportunities.
  • Build and nurture relationships with community partners and other outreach locations to maximize service opportunities and participant satisfaction.
  • Strengthen interdepartmental relationships with Childcare, Centers, Philanthropy, and Leadership to ensure programs are integrated and aligned with YMCA mission priorities.
  • Foster partnerships that expand the reach and impact of YMCA community programs.
  • Recruit volunteers to provide opportunities for community members and companies to support Y on the Fly programs and services.
  • Develop and implement event sponsorship opportunities to support outreach programming.
  • Provide impact stories and data to the Philanthropy team for grant applications and reporting.
  • Communicate program initiatives and goals to inform grant strategies and fundraising efforts.
  • Assist with YMCA fundraising activities, including the Annual Campaign and special events.
