Purpose: The Director of Community Development is responsible for neighborhood revitalization efforts, beautification projects, community outreach, and relationship management, while strategically partnering with other nonprofits and community agencies to meet the needs of the community. Essential Functions: Coordinate community revitalization programming to include planning processes and implementation strategies. Implement plan objectives using revitalization tools such as rehabilitation programs, existing state and federal funding sources and grant opportunities, administrative procedures, political mechanisms and legal processes. Oversee and lead physical improvement projects, which includes preparing Requests for Proposal bidding documents, coordinating the contracting process, and monitoring for execution of activities. Develop, monitor, and maintain departmental budgets and cost allocation plans and provide support in the grant process to include seeking and soliciting grant funding. Network, participate, and attend related meetings with other relevant agencies and plan, implement, facilitate, and/or attend special events in the community. Provides leadership to direct reports through effective communication, coaching, training, performance management and employee development. Supports recruitment efforts to include interviewing and onboarding. All other job-related duties as assigned.
