About The Position

The Director of Communications collaborates with leadership and staff across all Unbound Now offices to craft and share innovative, high-quality print and digital content for donors, foundations, social media, and community partners. This role ensures all materials are consistently branded, clearly written, and copyedited to the highest standard. All communications reflect survivor input and are survivor-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and hope-filled—amplifying Unbound Now’s mission and inspiring action.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic communications and marketing plans.
  • Experience managing multi-platform campaigns, including social media, websites, email marketing, and print publications.
  • Proven track record in copywriting, editing, and producing high-quality content for diverse audiences.
  • Experience with SEO strategy, Google Ads/Ad Grants, and digital analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with CRM and donor management systems.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in social media management, website CMS platforms, email marketing tools, and basic graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Skilled in building collaborative relationships across departments and with external partners.
  • Ability to coach and guide teams on communications best practices.
  • High attention to detail in editing, proofreading, and quality control.
  • Culturally sensitive and able to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Mature Christian faith, as evidenced by participation in a local Christian church
  • Three references (supervisor, professional, personal)
  • Agree to and pass all required criminal background checks, including the DFPS criminal history check and the abuse and neglect registry check
  • Pass employment eligibility verification
  • Willingness to use personal vehicle for work travel; valid driver’s license; reliable vehicle; current car insurance

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy to amplify Unbound Now’s mission across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with and provide Unbound videos, social media campaigns, e-newsletters, text messages, donor communications, and print materials following best marketing practices.
  • Coordinate communication efforts among offices by facilitating a monthly internal newsletter to celebrate impact and staff.
  • Lead unified digital media efforts, ensuring style, tone, and content consistency across all social media platforms.
  • Develop and maintain branded collateral templates, infographics, and other visual and written tools to effectively convey impact.
  • Manage a multi-step review and editing process to ensure marketing deliverables are error-free, post-ready, and compliant with brand style guidelines.
  • Proofread and edit all materials to maintain clarity, consistency, and excellence.
  • Produce annual impact reports and storytelling content that protects client confidentiality while conveying Unbound’s values.
  • Increase Awareness, Interest, Desire, and Action (AIDA) through targeted Google ads, boosted social media posts, and strategic use of Google Ad Grants.
  • Implement and track SEO strategies to enhance online visibility and engagement.
  • Manage or oversee contractors for Unbound Now’s social media accounts (@unboundnow) by creating engaging content and interacting with followers. We may outsource this, but this position will give oversight and accountability.
  • Oversee the unboundnow.org website to ensure accurate, timely updates and consistent blog content.
  • Create and distribute regular newsletters and text messages tailored to donors, general audiences, and prayer partners.
  • Prepare and distribute press releases; cultivate relationships with key media contacts.
  • Promote Unbound events through multi-media marketing strategies.
  • Produce Unbound videos in collaboration with contracted videographers and creative professionals.
  • Gather and analyze annual data from Unbound offices for the production of annual impact reports.
  • Regularly engage with program staff to collect stories that highlight impact while maintaining survivor confidentiality.
  • Partner with the CEO, CAO, and Development team to implement strategic fundraising campaigns, including content creation, communication calendars, and donor engagement strategies.
  • Oversee the integration of marketing and fundraising through management of the Virtuous CRM and marketing tools.
