About The Position

The Director of Cloud Operations is a key leadership role responsible for managing the organization’s private and public cloud infrastructure technologies. This role provides strategic direction and hands-on leadership to the Cloud Operations and Systems Engineering teams, ensuring the AWS cloud platform, CI/CD technologies, developer toolsets, and various automation technologies are optimized for high performance, reliability, scalability, and security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 5-7 years of leadership and technical experience managing large and complex technology solutions.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining private and cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Candidates must possess unrestricted work authorization and not require future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred technical experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Technical knowledge and skills in cloud services like AWS EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, Terraform, and Ansible preferred.
  • Proven experience managing cloud expenses, cost optimization opportunities, and resource allocation.
  • Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle high-pressure situations.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering Leadership: Lead a team of cloud engineers which provide technical expertise and guidance for on-premises and cloud computing technologies. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices for CI/CD, private and public cloud technologies.
  • Leadership: Drive Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) cross functional leadership to establish and maintain best practices for cloud computing while providing technical guidance and support to other departments.
  • Financial Efficiency: Monitor and analyze cloud resource utilization, cost optimization opportunities, and resource allocation. Recommend and implement cost-saving measures and fine-tune resource allocation to maintain cost-effectiveness.
  • Resiliency and Disaster Recovery: Lead the resiliency architecture and manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans for public and private cloud.
  • Contract and Vendor Management: Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with technology vendors to ensure cost-effective service delivery.
  • Compliance and Governance: Serve as the point of contact for compliance audits or reviews.
  • Performance Optimization: Implement optimization practices to ensure performance improvements and performance tuning.
  • Security: Collaborate with the security team to ensure compliance with security standards
  • Incident Response: Provide technical leadership and expertise during incidents and cultivate an environment of continuous learning.
  • Vulnerability and Patch Management: Research and remediate vulnerabilities.
