About The Position

As Director of Clinical Simulation for the Johnson & Johnson Institutes, you will play a defining role in accelerating the learning and training of healthcare professionals worldwide through innovative clinical simulation. This is a rare opportunity to lead with vision, setting the gold standard for how simulation enables the safe, effective, and confident use of Johnson & Johnson technologies—impacting the lives of millions of patients around the world. In this leadership role, you will lead all aspects of operations for seven Johnson & Johnson Institutes laboratories in the United States while driving outstanding clinical simulation practices across a global network of 24 Institutes. You will develop strategy, elevate standards, and encourage teams across regions, ensuring that our simulation environments reflect the future of medical education—immersive, high‑fidelity, ethical, and relentlessly focused on improving patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of experience leading a laboratory or clinical simulation environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of people leadership experience
  • Proven track record to coordinate and prioritize multiple sophisticated projects simultaneously
  • Proven organisational change experience
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Outstanding attention to detail and dedication to operational excellence
  • MedTech product and/or procedural clinical experience
  • Deep subject‑matter expertise in clinical simulation methodologies
  • Strong project management capabilities
  • Experience building and leading strategic partnerships
  • Business and financial competence, including budget ownership
  • Technology‑savvy, with the ability to integrate diverse fields into innovative simulation models and learning experiences
  • Strong stakeholder management and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Validated ability to lead, develop, and encourage high‑performing teams
  • Travel requirement: approximately 35–40%

Nice To Haves

  • Experience establishing and operating multiple clinical or training lab facilities strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Clinical Simulation team, with accountability for organization design, talent development, performance management, and training
  • Establish standardized clinical simulation processes and expectations to be followed by all Business Units, regardless of program location
  • Develop, deploy, and govern lab safety and biosafety protocols across all training locations
  • Lead the clinical simulation budget (greater than $5M USD), including financial planning, reconciliation, and cost optimization
  • Establish and handle strategic vendor relationships, lab costs, and pricing agreements
  • Optimize utilization of Johnson & Johnson Institutes facilities by resolving cross‑functional priorities
  • Represent Clinical Simulation in key enterprise and cross‑functional forums, including the Johnson & Johnson MedTech Bio Risk Community of Practice and the Enterprise Animal Welfare Council
  • Provide strategic direction for dashboards, metrics, and supporting systems to measure performance, compliance, and impact
  • Lead third‑party facility contracting and approval processes for professional education and R&D training venues
  • Communicate business‑critical issues, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership
  • Ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, Environmental, and regulatory requirements, and that all vital resources are available and maintained
  • Ensure personal and team compliance with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
