About The Position

LOGISTEED-America is a global leader in Freight Forwarding and Contract Logistics, part of a global network founded in 1950. The company provides transportation and logistics services including ocean & air freight transport, contract logistics, customs brokerage, and supply chain management. They are seeking a Director of CHB Compliance to join their team. This role involves monitoring and reporting on all Import Brokerage compliance activities in the US, including those related to Participating Government Agencies. The Director will be responsible for setting policies, procedures, and direction for a compliant Import Customs regulatory compliance program, as well as monitoring and enforcing compliance policy guidelines for reasonable care and paperless recordkeeping. The position requires excellent leadership skills and a passion for helping team members, strong customer relations, and a detail-oriented, reliable, and goal-oriented approach. The role can be located at any of their nation-wide offices in Monterey Park, CA; Fullerton, CA; Forest Park, GA; Elk Grove Village, IL; Mineola, NY; or Seattle, WA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage client compliance needs.
  • Provide Compliance presentations both externally and internally.
  • Develop a strong, knowledgeable, pro-active team environment with all LUS managers.
  • Manage all import brokerage compliance programs at LUS and provide regulatory guidance, support and training to branches.
  • Develop a culture of accountability to achieve improved results, minimizing risks and liabilities to LUS and its clients through strong regulatory and corporate policy compliance.
  • Ensure that the branch offices are in full compliance with U.S. Customs regulations.
  • Provide internal regulatory support & guidance including brokerage compliance work duties.
  • Perform tasks safely.
  • Ensure area housekeeping requirements are met.
  • Meet attendance & punctuality standards.
  • Meet established procedures and productivity, safety and quality standards.
  • Keep the Corporate Licensee and the VP of Corporate Admin informed about important issues and with updated progress on important projects and tasks.
  • Conduct internal staff meetings, one-on-one coaching, and handle approvals of staff time-off requests in the ADP portal.
  • Provide FDA shadow audits by Compliance Analysts or Managers to improve FDA’s branch audit results.
  • Act as the Compliance point of contact between sales, branches, & key client compliance staff as brokerage SME.
  • Assist with filing Petition for Relief from penalties.
  • Monitor and Ensure LUS’ CBP Annual Permit Fee and Triennial Report Fees are Paid & Submitted Timely.
  • Monitor/Review all CBP Penalties issued against LUS or its Clients and Assist with Mitigation.
  • Review/Approve Post Summary Corrections, Protests, 520(d), 520(a)(4), Prior Disclosures, and Entry Unlocks.
  • Issue and Monitor Employee POA.
  • New Employee Reporting to CBP via ACE Portal.
  • ACE Portal Management and ACE Reports.
  • Providing Updates to the Branches as Regulations and Policies Change.
  • Technical regulatory guidance for branches when requested.
  • Classification research upon request for complicated items.
  • Review and audit branch-validated powers of attorneys in CW1.
  • Review and monitor post-entry work (PSC, protests, etc.) Upon submission for approval to LUS CHB Compliance prior to CBP filing.
  • Review binding ruling requests from branches on behalf of IOR.
  • Monitor and manage compliance of reconciliation entries.
  • Conduct brokerage policy compliance audits of branches by compiling entry reports, conducting off-site and on-site evaluations.
  • Issue summary reports/recommendations, require branch CIP, conduct follow up assessments on CIP implementation, and publish annual scorecard results by branch.
  • Review & update all brokerage policies and procedures.
  • Provide FDA guidance & shadow audits to improve FDA’s onsite audit results.
  • Act as compliance point of contact between sales, branches, & key client compliance staff.
  • Manage classification projects for importers: Quote pricing and perform certification and updates of classification databases.
  • Assist clients for compliance with FDA and PGA requirements.
  • Join managers or sales on local sales appts as brokerage SME.
  • Support LUS bonded CFS stations with customs compliance by reviewing critical compliance areas.
  • Review/recommend updates to CFS sop to prevent violations and assist the CFS manager in training CFS employees.
  • Audit monthly internal LUS customs entries and external customs entry quantities v CFS package count quantity releases.
  • Audit CFS employee reporting to comply with CFS regs.
  • Responsible for all Customs compliance matters.
  • Ensure licensed managers of each LUS branch directly report compliance matters to the Director in accordance with LUS CHB Compliance policies.
  • Manage all customs brokerage branches in full compliance with regulations of US Customs and other participating government agencies.
  • Establish professional working relationships with Customs, other Government agencies and all other entities involved to achieve excellent results.
  • Maintain comprehensive resource materials.
  • Communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
