About The Position

1 . Be responsible to the Principal of H.S. of Science and Technology. 2. Work with H.S. of Science & Technology's Principal and vocational administration to secure and maintain State Chapter 74 approval for all existing and new technical programs which adhere to the approved criteria within the Chapter 74 Regulations. 3. Work collaboratively with school and district staff, outside organizations, and community representatives. 4. Enforce and monitor federal and state regulations. 5. Work with H.S. of Science & Technology's administration to guide staff which improves academic and technical performance through the implementation of effective practices in vocational/academic integration. 6. Provide support to all technical staff in preparing students for success in the any upcoming standardized vocational competency testing. 7. E nsure that all technical staff develop/use: (1) pacing documents, (2) newly written vocational frameworks lesson plans (3) newly generated framework competency checklists and (4) safety assessments. 8. Collaborate with school and district staff to prepare for: (1) coordinated program reviews, (2) on-site Chapter 74 Program audits and (3) State on-site evaluations. 9. Work with H.S. of Science & Technology's administration team to maintain all Program Advisory Committees (PACs) and the General Advisory Committee (GAC) to follow State guidelines for effective operation of each technical area. 10. Oversee the coordination of school and shop related projects as well as on-site and off-campus construction/renovation activities and cooperative work experiences. 11. E nsure the appropriate uses of facilities, equipment, technology, and instructional supplies as defined within the Chapter 74 regulations. 12. Collaborate with school and district staff to develop and implement Springfield’s annual Local Plan. 13. Collaborate with school and district staff to develop and implement the annual State and Federal grants. 14. Collaborate with school and district staff to effectively utilize the local consumable supply/repair budget 15. Oversee appropriate expenditures for local, state, and any federal funds used to support H.S. of Science & Technology programs. 16. Oversee compliance with OSHA regulations through the implementation of established technical and school-wide procedures. This includes staff and student training and certification. 17. Maintain accurate inventory of technical programs. 18. Work with the Principal in the recruitment of new students to H.S. of Science & Technology. 19. Oversee the recruiting, screening, and professional development of H.S. of Science & Technology's career and technical staff. 20. Participate in the evaluation of vocational staff and secure Professional Development as needed. 21. Prepare appropriate reports for the Massachusetts Department of Education and represent the school and the district at Department of Education meetings, Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators, and conferences involving career and technical education. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, AND SKILL: DUTIES: Ability to enforce and monitor DESE and Career and Technical Education Regulations, other State and Federal Regulations, District Committee Policies, school regulations, and contractual agreements. Ability to plan, develop, and implement new programs and services. Ability to convey new initiatives in written form and verbally. Ability to enforce and monitor for compliance student conformity with school policies. Ability to work cooperatively with the public, community agencies, and the MA DESE. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students, and district administrators. Ability to develop and implement projects; identify and achieve goals. Ability to manage local and State and Federal funding to adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • MA DESE licensure as a Voc Tech Supervisor/Director.
  • At least five years successful teaching experience in a vocational setting.
  • Proven in-depth knowledge of MA Vocational Frameworks, vocational curriculum and methodology, Chapter 74 Regulations, and State and Federal funding regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, management, oral, written communication, as well as interpersonal skills are required.
  • A minimum of three years of administrative experience preferably in a vocational setting.
