Oversight of daily operations of all Central Processing functions, assist with organization and coordination of staffing in all areas, and facilitate coordination with other departments and medical/ancillary department offices, surgeons, staff, and administrators to address concerns. Oversees compliance to clinical performance, intervenes to ensure that issues impacting patient care outcomes are addressed, and ensures the best outcomes are achieved. Ensures strategic alignment with Surgical Services, the hospital, and MPA offices; develops the strategic plan for Central Processing. Demonstrates competency in selection and interviewing, retention, disciplinary actions and terminations, mentoring, and the education/training of department employees in conjunction with the VP, AVP, and Human Resources. Ability to take a leadership role in organizational development, change management, operational excellence, process improvement, quality checks, talent management and succession planning. Shall demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to the quality management system by: (a) promoting the use of the process approach and risk-based thinking; (b) engaging, directing and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system requirements; (c) promoting improvement. Ensures the qualifications and competence of staff members meet the needs of patient care services and that all practices/procedures are in compliance with regulatory and quality standards. Ensures best practices and all requirements related to decontamination, sterilization, preparing and packaging of instruments are adhered to and followed by staff. Ensures Safety and Infection Prevention methods are followed at all times; ensures compliance and consistency with sterilization principles, standards and techniques. Documentation reviewed and verified daily for accuracy and completeness. Infection Prevention resource for McLeod Health facilities and MPA offices. Responsible for adherence to and compliance in all practice requirements established in the standards set by DNV, AORN, AAMI on all sterilizers, including biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring. Ensures staff are compliant with applicable requirements of the organization, Federal, State and regulatory agency including, DNV, DHEC, OSHA, AAMI, AORN. Adhere to hospital policies associated with HR including but not limited to PEP, FMLA, ADA guidelines, EAP, evaluations, etc. and discipline and discharge personnel when necessary. Ensures the compliance of Vendor Policy. Active collaboration with the CP and Surgical Services Leadership Team. Partners with outside departments for sterilization of instruments (L&D, ER, MPA offices and McLeod Health facilities). Participates in performance evaluations and coaching/corrective actions with staff members. Works in collaboration with the Surgical Services Educator for training and Education. Maintains knowledge of current trends and development in the field through continuing education and complete annual training as assigned. Participates in and manages departmental budget development, capital acquisitions, fiscal responsibilities, timekeeping, productivity and efficiency targets. Prepare or directs preparation of periodic and special analysis and reports required for management. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. Serves as a leader, team builder, a positive role model, servant leader, team player, supporter, collaborator, and steward for all Central processing staff. Actively participates in service excellence (patient experience), surgeon satisfaction, and staff engagement.
