About The Position

The Director of Campus Ministry is a full-time leadership position responsible for coordinating, animating, and advancing the faith life of Notre Dame School of Milwaukee across all three campuses. The Director collaborates closely with school leadership, faculty, parish partners, families, and religious sponsors to ensure a vibrant, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate Catholic identity rooted in the Gospel, Catholic Social Teaching, and the SSND charism. This role focuses on liturgy, sacramental preparation, retreats, service and justice initiatives, spiritual accompaniment, and the integration of faith throughout school life.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a visible spiritual leader who embodies Gospel values and the mission of Catholic education.
  • Promote the charism and educational vision of the School Sisters of Notre Dame across all campuses.
  • Collaborate with administration to integrate faith, social justice, restorative practices, and Catholic identity into school culture, celebrations, assemblies, and daily life.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead weekly and special Masses for students across grade levels.
  • Foster student understanding and participation in the Church’s liturgical seasons (e.g., Advent and Lent)
  • Organize school-wide prayer services, including International Peace Day, reconciliation services, and seasonal liturgies (ie SSND Founders Day, Catholic Schools Week, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Blessed Theresa Remembrance Day).
  • Support student leadership in liturgy (readers, servers, music ministers) and encourage active, age-appropriate participation.
  • Collaborate with clergy, musicians, and faculty to ensure meaningful and inclusive worship experiences.
  • Coordinate preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in collaboration with religion teachers, families, and parish partners.
  • Coordinate ongoing formation of faculty for student sacramental development.
  • Support sacramental celebrations with sensitivity to cultural, linguistic, and developmental needs (eg Dia de los Muertos).
  • Design, plan, and implement retreat experiences for all grade levels, including:
  • Internal retreats and Youth Frontiers retreats
  • Grade-level retreats (e.g., kindness retreats, Catholic Ecology retreats)
  • Trinity Woods experiences, including Day of Peace
  • Board and adult retreats as needed
  • Train and support faculty and staff involved in retreat leadership.
  • Coordinate school-wide service days, trimester service experiences, and service hour requirements.
  • Support and mentor student-led initiatives such as Shalom Club and Student Council service projects.
  • Integrate Catholic Social Teaching (CST) into service programs, assemblies, and reflection experiences. Work with teachers to connect CST into curriculum.
  • Collaborate with teachers to connect service learning to curriculum areas such as Religion, Social Studies, and ELA.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group spiritual accompaniment for students, particularly in the middle schools.
  • Work with teachers, staff, counselors and campus ministry volunteers to foster a culture of belonging, dignity, and restorative justice rooted in Gospel values.
  • Create informal faith-building opportunities (e.g., faith-based lunches, reflection groups).
  • Engage families in the faith life of the school through sacramental preparation, service opportunities, and prayer experiences.
  • Collaborate with School Sisters of Notre Dame and other religious communities in shared prayer, service, and peace initiatives.
  • Support parent involvement events that reflect Catholic Social Teaching (e.g., Call to Family, Community, and Participation).
  • Work collaboratively with principals, religion teachers, counselors, and support staff across all campuses.
  • Support faith integration in classrooms, assemblies, and extracurricular activities.
  • Participate in ongoing professional and spiritual formation.
