About The Position

The Director of Business Development is responsible for leading strategic growth initiatives, identifying new business opportunities, and building strong relationships with key clients and partners. This role oversees the development and execution of strategies that expand market presence, generate revenue, and support long-term organizational objectives. The Director collaborates closely with executive leadership, sales, marketing, and operations to evaluate market trends, develop proposals, negotiate high-value contracts, and ensure successful business expansion.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering,or related field required.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive experience in business development or sales within the construction industry.
  • Proven track record of securing new business and driving revenue growth.
  • Experience with proposals, estimating coordination, and contract negotiations.
  • Strong understanding of construction operations and market dynamics.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel to job sites, client locations, and events as needed.
  • Must be able to navigate construction sites, including uneven terrain and stairs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Visual acuity required for reviewing documents and screens.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in various settings.

  • Master's degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to drive growth in construction services, markets, and client segments.
  • Identify new project opportunities through market research, industry networking, and trend analysis.
  • Build and maintain relationships with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the proposal and bidding process, including opportunity evaluation, pricing strategy, proposal development, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with estimating, operations, project management, and finance teams to ensure accurate scopes and competitive bids.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and association meetings.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements in alignment with company goals and margin targets.
  • Track pipeline activity, maintain CRM data, and provide regular forecasts to leadership.
  • Analyze competitor activity and market shifts to inform decision-making.
  • Drive long-term relationship development and client satisfaction.
  • Support marketing efforts by contributing to branding, messaging, and project wins.
  • Identify strategic partnerships or alliances for business expansion.
