Mass Virtual is seeking a Business Development Director to lead and scale their growth strategy in a rapidly expanding immersive technology market. This role owns the full business development lifecycle, from identifying high-value opportunities to closing complex deals and building long-term strategic partnerships. It is described as a build-and-expand role, responsible for driving revenue, opening new markets, and positioning Mass Virtual as the go-to partner for next-generation training solutions.

Requirements

  • Proven success in business development, sales leadership, or capture management—preferably in technology, defense, or enterprise training environments
  • Strong experience developing and executing growth strategies in emerging or evolving markets
  • Demonstrated ability to close complex, high-value deals and manage long sales cycles
  • Deep understanding of market analysis, competitive positioning, and customer needs
  • Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing and scaling teams
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building capabilities
  • Experience working cross-functionally in fast-paced, high-growth environments

Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of business development strategy to increase revenue, expand market share, and achieve financial targets
  • Identify and evaluate new markets, channels, partners, and customer segments
  • Develop and lead capture strategies, win themes, and technical solution alignment
  • Drive strategic planning, competitive analysis, and market research to inform go-to-market decisions
  • Anticipate shifts in pricing, demand, and competitive positioning—and adjust accordingly
  • Oversee development of proposals, contracts, and negotiations for new business opportunities
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to ensure successful delivery of business development efforts
  • Establish and grow relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and partners
  • Leverage industry connections to unlock opportunities and accelerate deal cycles
  • Ensure strong client retention and repeat business through consistent engagement
  • Monitor pipeline health, conversion rates, and revenue growth from new and existing business
  • Measure client acquisition, satisfaction, and retention metrics
  • Report on performance and provide data-driven recommendations
  • Oversee business development and sales engineering budgets to ensure efficient use of resources
