About The Position

Oversees operations and provides supervision and coordination of the Avow Kids management, staff, and interns. Provides community education and maintains relationships in the community with collaborating organizations for the entire Avow Kids service area. Responsible for program development, leadership, and community engagement.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work or equivalent degree in counseling, psychology, family therapy, or related field is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a minimum of (5) five years of management in a health related, hospice, grief, bereavement, or pediatric mental health setting preferred, with an understanding of all disciplines represented in the department (direct work experience with these disciplines preferred).
  • Minimum of (3) three years of experience working with children in the hospice, home health, or healthcare environment.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire and maintain without expiration during employment.
  • Crowd Control Manager within 90 days of hire and maintain active status.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret tables and bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with grant-funded program management and program expansion preferred.
  • LCSW in state of Florida preferred or seek qualifications once requirements are met.
  • Specialized training or certification in grief counseling, child and adolescent trauma, or bereavement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Represents and advocates for the Avow Kids program at hospitals, schools, and other community forums; cultivating referral networks; and shaping strategic growth and expansion.
  • Builds visibility, partnerships, and long-term sustainability for the program.
  • Conducts Avow Kids Departmental meetings monthly; participates in Avow staff meetings, Clinical Operations meetings, IDG meetings, and other meetings as needed.
  • Provides strategic thinking and has strong program development skills to implement new programs and increase the number of children served.
  • Ensures monthly operational goals including budget, key performance indicators, quality, and compliance metrics are met for the department.
  • Provides mentorship and supports development of team members and interns.
  • Collaborates with Avow Kids, business development, and marketing staff and/or other Avow departments on special projects and events.
  • Supports and contributes to grant-writing/applications for department-related projects.
  • Educates the staff and community on the benefits of Avow Kids.
  • In conjunction with Avow Kids manager, monitors staff caseloads and productivity to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Participates in the development of annual budget for the Avow Kids team; coordinates all purchases for department supplies/equipment; assures responsible usage of departmental funds.
  • Completes departmental payroll approval process; assures appropriate coverage of needs for the department.
  • Manages the hiring needs of the department.
  • Completes staff appraisals and participates in new staff orientation.
  • Serves as an expert in children’s grief and bereavement and educates staff and community on applicable topics and serves as a community resource as needed (i.e. task force).
  • Compiles reports and statistical data as requested.
  • Travel as needed within the service area for meetings, events, and speaking engagements.
  • Oversees planning and implementing children’s camps (includes overnight stays).
  • Ensures staff collaboration with external agencies such as fire houses, police stations, nonprofit organizations, local youth clubs, and other community partners to provide education and support to children.
  • Other duties as assigned.
