About The Position

This positions oversees the Intake department processes and procedures. Develops and implements standards of care relevant to patient services. Supervises all personnel who deliver direct admissions and coordinates all admissions review services. Develops and maintains positive relationships with referral sources and assists with marketing for the facility. The position involves being available for after-hours on-call work as required for Intake related needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years of behavioral healthcare hospital admissions experience required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • State of Nevada clinical licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of assessment and admissions services at the hospital and by the mobile assessment team in the community.
  • Identifies and oversees the operation of the admissions to meet the needs of the community and facility.
  • Creates relationships with referral sources in conjunction with facility marketing efforts.
  • Monitors staff performance and provides regular feedback.
  • Responsible for scheduling and staffing to ensure that the department has the needed coverage.
  • Ensures that staff has adequate training in assessment and admission procedures.
  • Consults with Medical Staff, Director of Clinical Services, CNO, and CEO about the acceptability of admissions.
  • Represents and distributes information about Desert Parkway Behavioral Healthcare Hospital services to community healthcare entities in a positive educational manner.
  • Remains current on referral sources and interacts effectively with patients, peers and other staff on appropriate patient treatment options.
  • Understands and communicates the disease pathology associated with behavioral conditions and their models of treatment.
  • Facilitates the patient's access to the appropriate level of care and setting.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with physicians, nursing staff and health professional affiliates in the community.
  • Demonstrates good skills in assessing patient's crisis and clinical indicators.
  • Prepares written report of assessment results in a timely manner (immediately following completed assessment) and includes recommendations for the level of care and treatment needs.
  • Assesses need for involuntary hospitalization evaluation.
  • Provides pertinent clinical information to physician and Intake staff who will be reviewing the patient, to ensure a smooth transition for the patient.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal guidelines pertaining to EMTALA/COBRA and abuse/neglect reporting.
  • Maintains and analyzes assessment and admission data to identify trends and/or opportunities for improvement.
