About The Position

The Office of Institutional Advancement works to strengthen Newberry College through fundraising, alumni relations, and outreach that furthers the College's mission and vision. The Director of Annual Giving position is an integral member of the Institutional Advancement team, which will lead efforts to raise more than $850,000 annually for the Newberry Fund, as well as funds for additional capital, endowment, and athletics projects. This role requires an individual who is an excellent team player, as well as creative, organized and attentive to detail. The Director of Annual Giving should also excel at the execution of events, data management, and donor appeal stewardship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Applied and analytical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel).
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new digital platforms and programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a high level of donor/customer service.
  • Strong team concept and experience working in a results-oriented team environment.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
  • Proven ability to work independently to accomplish goals and establish priorities with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Work with advancement staff to keep constituent biographic (address, phone, e-mail, employment, name, and relative), event attendance, and donation information up to date.
  • Develop proficiency with Raiser's Edge NXT and serves as backup for Advancement Services staff.
  • Review the Institutional Advancement calendar and work with staff to ensure solicitation and event preparations are completed on time.
  • Provide support for fundraising events, including logistical planning, coordination of volunteers, and on-site management.
  • Collaborate with events team to ensure seamless execution of fundraising events.
  • Track attendee counts for events and ensure they are entered into the database.
  • Produce event materials as needed: name badges, check-in materials, etc.
  • Assist in planning & supporting all annual giving activities including, but not limited to, fall appeal, CYE initiative, and projects focused on increasing retention, new donors, and participation.
  • Support Institutional Advancement staff with events and activities; including, but not limited to, Homecoming, golf tournament(s), and giving day(s).
  • Assist in building and maintaining relationships with donors, alumni, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist fundraising and advancement services staff to ensure donors receive appropriate recognition and stewardship for appeals/campaigns including, but not limited to, Feed the Wolf Employee Giving, consecutive years donor club, and annual fund giving appeals.
  • Keep current with best practices, innovative developments, and trends in advancement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Vice President of Institutional Advancement.
