About The Position

The Director of Advancement leads the fundraising and external relations functions for New Door. In addition to oversight for communications, volunteerism, and fundraising, the Director of Advancement will be skilled with major donor programming, board management, and strategic partnership building. Our CEO sees this as a unique opportunity for community storytelling and narrative change - many stakeholders have not ye t heard why New Door's work matters to the community and each individual we serve. This position is exempt and is located primarily on-site at New Door's San Francisco headquarters location. New Door Ventures employs a hybrid work location policy, with a 3:2 office/remote cadence .

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years' experience in fund development in the Bay Area, including established knowledge of region al philanthropic network s
  • Knowledge of current trends in philanthropy, board engagement , external communication, etc .
  • Knowledge / experience / familiarity of the communities to which New Door delivers programming
  • Inspirational leader who has exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
  • An organized and strategic thinker who is comfortable with oversight and project management and holds a high attention to detail
  • People management skills : across, down, and up
  • A self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use appropriate computer and reporting systems including Windows operating system, Microsoft Office Suite, and Outlook (Salesforce knowledge a plus )

  • Team M anagement , Organizational Leadership & Collaboration - 30%
  • Major Donor Fundraising - 25%
  • Donor Cultivation & Success - 25%
  • Board & Leadership Engagement - 10%
  • Oversee managers to e nsure sound administration of development activities, including: the development calendar, Salesforce database, record keeping, grant renewals, grant reporting, and donor communications.
  • Board and other reporting: p rovide detailed reports about fundraising progress to the Development Committee monthly, to full board on a quarterly basis, and other times as requested.
  • Oversee production of agency newsletter, annual Impact Report, and other collateral .
  • Ensure agency website and other social media are maintained with updated content, photos, and links.
