About The Position

Under the supervision of the Principal, the Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations develops and implements strategies that will promote the mission of BCHS, foster alumni relationships, and build a donor network. This position will work closely with the Principal and the Executive Leadership Team to ensure that advancement activities are aligned with the school’s mission and strategic plan. The Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations strives to achieve the goals of Catholic education; shows evidence of knowledge of the Catholic philosophy of education; promotes gospel values and Catholic moral teaching; upholds the doctrinal teachings of the Catholic Church; provides opportunities for students to be prepared for life in today’s Church and society.

Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic preferred
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of non-profit finances, software and digital tools relevant to the job (in addition to baseline expertise in Google and MS Office platforms, must have command of presentation platforms, CRMs, donor management platforms, spreadsheets, grant writing software, etc.)
  • Must have initiative, creativity, and problem solving skills
  • Requires good judgment in handling different personalities and emerging situations
  • Must possess the ability to observe and actively listen when assessing financial planning and program needs.
  • The ability to work cooperatively with a team, as well as the ability to delegate, as necessary

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and lead a comprehensive advancement and alumni relations plan that is aligned with the school’s mission, needs, and strategic plan, and is aligned with diocesan and Church standards which includes: Creating and managing an annual advancement calendar of activities
  • Leading alumni engagement efforts including communications, reunions, volunteer programs, and fundraising initiatives
  • Create a comprehensive alumni relations plan and calendar
  • Overseeing the school’s alumni, constituent, and donor CRM system
  • Overseeing the annual giving campaign
  • Managing all phases of gift solicitations and gifts received
  • Leading donor stewardship efforts
  • Researching and managing existing and potential grant opportunities (In collaboration with the principal and leadership team)
  • Preparing for any capital campaign
  • Preparing a planned giving program involving endowments, bequests, annuities, outright gifts, etc
  • Monitor and evaluate the school’s advancement plan
  • Establish and maintain positive school-community relationships
  • Develop relationships and remain engaged with Diocesan, regional, or national organizations germane to advancement; e.g., CEA and other school tuition organizations; DPHX Office of Mission Advancement; Catholic Community Foundation; local and national organizations that make major donations to non-profits.
  • Engage in professional development and/or continued education to remain current with advancement and development practices, tools, and techniques
  • Develop and manage the Advancement Dept. budget including monthly reporting to school leadership
  • Attend BCHS Advisory Board meetings when requested
  • Represent the school at relevant professional and community events
  • Meets established fundraising and giving goals
  • Perform related duties as assigned for emergency procedures
