About The Position

The Hill School seeks a Director of Academic Technology to serve as a faculty leader in the thoughtful integration of technology into teaching, learning, and assessment. Grounded in Hill's mission to prepare students for college, careers, and life within a rigorous academic and residential environment, the Director of Academic Technology works collaboratively with teaching faculty, department chairs, and the Academic Office to strengthen pedagogy, support innovation, and steward the evolving role of technology in the academic program. This role is both pedagogical and technological in nature. The Director of Academic Technology brings deep understanding of teaching and learning alongside fluency with instructional technologies, both existing and emerging ( incl uding artificial intelligence ), in guiding the School to thoughtfully utilize emerging tools while remaining anchored in Hill's academic and community values. Serving as a key leader within the Academic Leadership, this person carries the responsibility and oversight to ensure that all Hill teachers understand how they can effectively and meaningfully embrace technological resources that best suit the more enduring learning experiences for students.

Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate an established track record of instructional excellence at the secondary level and significant experience in working collaboratively with teacher colleagues to strengthen teaching and learning.
A strong understanding of curriculum design, pedagogy, and assessment in a rigorous academic environment is required, as is experience designing and facilitating faculty learning and professional development.
Familiarity with learning management systems, instructional platforms, and current educational technologies - including a demonstrated interest and developing expertise in artificial intelligence - are required.
A bachelor's degree is required

Responsibilities

Proactively support teachers in integrating technology into their teaching and the student experience in their classrooms, as well as into their own professional workflow.
Regularly visit Hill teachers over the course of the academic year to assist in guiding curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment that thoughtfully integrates technology in the service of student learning.
Directly support department chairs in reviewing curriculum and exploring ways to apply emerging technologies to enhance student learning within broader department goals.
Design and lead an ongoing series of workshops for teachers that present new teaching practices and professional workflow integrations opportunities.
Design and lead an ongoing series of workshops for students focused around appropriate AI skill building and workflow opportunities.
Help organize and lead school-wide conversations in faculty meetings and broader professional development initiatives around curriculum, assessment, academic integrity, and the evolving nature of teaching and learning in a residential school environment.
Participate in the broader review process of all teaching faculty, related to their use of technology in their workflow and teaching.
Regularly explore trends and practices in education around technology and usage of AI to integrate into The Hill learning community.
Perform all other duties as assigned or needed to support the Academic Office.
undertake responsibilities that are importantly associated with a boarding school community, such as leading and serving on various committees, teaching two sections, and contributing to the School's co-curricular and residential programs.
