About The Position

FlyUSA is scaling at 50 to 75 percent annual growth and building a national private aviation platform. Technology is not a support function here. It is core infrastructure. Position Summary: We are seeking a hands on Director of Technology to architect, scale, and strengthen the systems that power maintenance, flight operations, finance, mobile experiences, and executive decision making. This is a player coach role. You will lead development, own infrastructure, manage vendors, and turn executive vision into scalable systems. If you want to build, not maintain, this is that opportunity.

Requirements

  • A senior engineering leader ready to build something meaningful.
  • Or a strong Head of Engineering or Senior Engineering Manager ready for Director level ownership.
  • Comfortable being both architect and execution leader.
  • Experienced scaling internal platforms in high growth companies.
  • Strong in cloud infrastructure including AWS and Azure.
  • Experienced integrating internal systems with commercial off the shelf software.
  • Decisive and accountable.
  • Calm under growth pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage three in house remote developers.
  • Transition away from external development firm support.
  • Establish engineering cadence, code standards, and documentation discipline.
  • Lead ongoing development of our headless architecture built on Directus, Supabase, and n8n.
  • Own architectural decisions and review code when necessary.
  • Drive API integrations across operational systems including Corridor, CAMP, and JetInsight.
  • Oversee continued development and enhancement of FlyUSA mobile applications.
  • Make build versus buy decisions with executive alignment.
  • Own cloud architecture across AWS and Azure.
  • Ensure scalability to support rapid revenue and operational growth.
  • Oversee uptime, performance, and cost optimization.
  • Manage MSP relationship with accountability and performance standards.
  • Strengthen cybersecurity posture.
  • Implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategy.
  • Develop scalable data governance practices.
  • Convert executive roadmap into delivery plans.
  • Prioritize and ship meaningful improvements quarterly.
  • Improve automation across maintenance and flight operations.
  • Prepare systems for acquisition integration.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and solve them with technology.
