About The Position

The Director, US Medical Strategy and Excellence is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and driving the strategic medical planning process across the U.S. TTR Medical Affairs organization. This role serves as a core member of the U.S. Medical Leadership Team and plays a critical role in ensuring strong alignment across U.S. Medical, Commercial, Global Medical Excellence, and Analytics and Insights (CC&I). The Director will lead U.S. medical excellence initiatives, advance key medical capabilities, and design and execute pilots that elevate how Medical Affairs delivers evidence-based, patient-centric impact. This role requires both strategic vision and operational rigor, with accountability for end-to-end execution of priority initiatives.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree required (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent scientific degree)
  • Significant experience in Medical Affairs with demonstrated leadership in strategy, planning, and execution
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, matrixed organizations
  • Strong strategic thinking combined with operational discipline and follow-through

Nice To Haves

  • Experience spanning pharmaceutical, medical technology, and biotechnology organizations
  • Prior experience in in-house Medical Director roles with accountability for medical strategy and execution
  • Direct experience in Field Medical roles, including MSL positions, with strong understanding of scientific exchange and insight generation
  • Experience leading Field Medical teams or Field Medical Excellence functions
  • Demonstrated success partnering with commercial, global medical, and analytics teams
  • Strong executive presence, communication skills, and ability to influence senior stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead the U.S. Medical strategic planning process, including annual and multi-year medical plans aligned to brand strategy and enterprise priorities
  • Translate global medical strategy into U.S.-specific plans that are actionable, measurable, and scalable
  • Partner closely with U.S. Medical leadership to ensure strategic priorities are clearly defined, resourced, and executed
  • Lead U.S. Medical Excellence, including the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of medical capabilities, processes, and ways of working
  • Identify, pilot, and scale innovative approaches that enhance scientific exchange, insight generation, and medical impact
  • Ensure alignment with Global Medical Excellence frameworks while tailoring execution to U.S. needs
  • Serve as a key integrator across U.S. Medical, U.S. Commercial, Global Medical, and CC&I to ensure alignment on priorities, insights, and execution
  • Partner with CC&I to operationalize analytics, dashboards, and insights that inform strategy, measure impact, and drive decision-making
  • Ensure medical insights are systematically captured, synthesized, and shared to inform broader TTR strategy
  • Own end-to-end execution of key U.S. Medical initiatives, from strategy through implementation and impact assessment
  • Establish clear governance, milestones, and accountability to ensure consistent delivery of high-priority programs
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, and course-correct as needed to ensure excellence in execution
  • Act as a core member of the U.S. Medical Leadership Team, contributing to enterprise-level thinking and decision-making
  • Influence without authority across matrixed teams and stakeholders
  • Model a culture of accountability, rigor, collaboration, and continuous improvement
