About The Position

A Marketplace New Business Development Director, Acquisition o wns end-to-end acquisition strategy for Target+, driving identification, engagement, and contracting of high-value marketplace partners to fuel profitable growth and strengthen the Target.com digital assortment. Accountable for delivering against product pyramid and enterprise merchandising priorities, the role sets the vision and standards for partner selection, ensuring alignment with guest needs and marketplace quality expectations. Operating at the intersection of Business Development and Merchandising, this leader leverages competitive intelligence, industry trend analysis, and performance data to proactively source differentiated DTC brands, vendors, and retailers. They partner cross-functionally with Guest & Assortment Strategy, Partner Management, and Operations teams to close assortment gaps, uphold operational and compliance standards, and ensure scalable, sustainable marketplace expansion. The role establishes a high-performing acquisition culture, balancing sales rigor with strategic discipline to secure long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships that elevate the Target+ platform. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.)
  • 7 + years of experience in merchandising, inventory management, forecasting, or product selection (including open-to-buy management)
  • 3+ years of eCommerce experience; marketplace/3P expertise strongly preferred
  • Proven business acumen with a track record of building industry relationships and leveraging data analytics to inform decisions
  • Expertise in business planning, forecasting, and defining KPIs to drive execution of business strategy
  • Entrepreneurial and performance-driven, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
  • Resilient and adaptable, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to bring clarity and decisiveness in complex or changing situations
  • Excellent communicator with strong planning, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities
