The Director/Managing Director role provides an engaging opportunity to help grow theUS loan portfolios / asset based finance business, including evaluating new opportunities in whole loans, RTL, HEI, 2nd liens, HELOCs, and small balance CRE investments. In addition, the Director/Managing Director will oversee performance of investments and have day to day interaction with our leadership team, as well as other functional and operational areas of the business. The role will be located in (Minnesota or New York) and reporting into the Principal lead.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, mathematics, economics, business, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience across banking/credit investment
  • Formal credit training from a bank, rating agency or another investment firm
  • Demonstrated experience in making successful credit investments combined with analytical and financial modeling skills and insights
  • Demonstrated goal-orientation and drive with the ability to manage multiple priorities, while exercising sound judgment under demanding deadlines
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn and take on new tasks and responsibilities
  • A self-starter with the ability to follow through and complete tasks in a highly intellectual, collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel including financial modeling and analysis
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organization and detail orientation skills with ability to audit own work
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability and desire to periodically work extended hours based on deal activities
  • Ability to travel as needed

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate potential investment opportunities and prepare materials to present to Loan Portfolio leadership and Investment Committee
  • Conduct transaction due diligence
  • Review and analyze financial, legal, commercial and technical reports
  • Take ownership of key current relationships with bank and other platforms to oversee ongoing term sheets, credit agreements, and other investment details
  • Manage and/or build and maintain financial models
  • Identify, analyze and monitor deals, as well as prepare reports and presentations, providing a point of view
  • Partner with other members of the team across several functional areas of the firm
  • Actively engage in the business by asking questions, demonstrating an eagerness to learn, and contribute your opinion and share knowledge
  • Develop and execute investment strategies for the US loan portfolios team to optimize returns and manage risk
  • Evaluate and identify new investment opportunities in the residential sector, including whole loans, RTL, HEI, 2nd liens, HELOCs, and small balance CRE
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, lenders, and industry partners, to drive portfolio growth and success
