Our exceptional benefits include: 100% employer-paid healthcare coverage Generous paid time off Flexible, remote work environment Additional benefits that support your well-being and work–life balance Job Summary Overview: A direct report of the Executive Director of Major Gifts, the Director of Major Gifts will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts with a focus on major gift ($25,000+) pipeline development in assigned geographic regions and/or markets. The primary focus of this role and portfolio will be New York City-based donors and prospects in addition to donors and prospects throughout the Northeast. The Director of Major Gifts is responsible for meeting individual fundraising and activity goals, which will be accomplished through regular travel to assigned markets for relationship building. This position will also utilize longstanding and emerging V Foundation fundraising events to develop existing and new donor relationships and philanthropic opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7-plus years of relevant major gift experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in developing and building a robust major gift portfolio and soliciting and closing five- and six-figure philanthropic gifts.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to detailed and accurate CRM database reporting.
  • Proactive, self-starter with a strong sense of purpose.
  • A belief in the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and action that demonstrates this commitment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to connect one’s individual performance goals to team and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all stages of a robust major gift donor portfolio of individuals located primarily in New York City and throughout the Northeast.
  • Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual activity goals, including meetings, qualification/disqualification, solicitations, and future pipeline build to achieve short- and long-term revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Major Gifts and fellow Directors/Assistant Directors of Major Gifts on strategies for individual and team goal achievement.
  • Detailed and disciplined utilization of donor database software for documenting activity related to donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship as well as major gift pipeline opportunities.
  • Lead key individual donor relationships related to the V Foundation’s fundraising signature event in New York City.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Major Gifts, event leadership, and others on pre-event fundraising strategies and solicitations for top individual donors and prospects.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Major Gifts and Signature Events leadership on committee development for the annual New York City – Boo-Yah: A Celebration of Stuart Scott event.
  • Identify post-event major gift pipeline opportunities and develop appropriate strategies for donor stewardship and future cultivation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
