About The Position

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) Director oversees the operations of the LRC, including library, tutoring and educational technology services. The LRC Director is part of the statewide Educational Technology, Library, and Tutoring teams and has dotted line reporting to the executive leadership teams in those areas. This position collaborates with staff and faculty in student affairs and academics to provide wrap-around support for tutoring and digital services. Support is also provided for courses, learning modules, and other tools and resources. Location: Primary Office located in Gary, but frequent travel to Crown Point and East Chicago is required. Some regional and state travel may also be required. Pay Range: $55,000 - 65,000 per year depending on qualifications and experience

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Library Science, Education, Instructional Technology or Design, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience working in a related field.
  • Knowledge of various digital learning platforms such as learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, etc.), publisher platforms (Pearson’s MyLabs\Mastering, McGraw-Hill Connect, Cengage MindTap, etc.), and other educational platforms required.
  • Familiarity with core productivity tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Office and Google Suites; preferred experience with ServiceNow, integrated library systems (ILS), Workday, Salesforce, and content‑management platforms like Springshare.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508), as well as compliance requirements for protection of personally identifiable information (PII).
  • Experience in teaching, training, project management, digital research, and/or technology.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills focusing on the ability to deliver technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Proven experience in managing, leading, and supervising staff, including hiring, performance evaluation, professional development, and fostering collaborative team environments.
  • Continuously stay abreast of emerging technologies and pursue ongoing professional development to drive innovation and maintain best practices in student services and Learning Resource Center support.

  • Experience working in higher education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership around, and advocates for, the use of educational technology and LRC services at three campus locations to promote student success and enhance teaching and learning across all modalities.
  • Oversee operations, scheduling and provide leadership for educational technology, library, and tutoring staff across all three Lake County campus locations.
  • In partnership with campus leadership, participate in strategic planning for the LRC.
  • Collaborates with campus/statewide leadership and staff/faculty to plan and deliver educational technology professional development and/or training across all modalities.
  • Supports faculty with the identification, implementation, and use of educational technology tools, pedagogy, digital library, and tutoring resources for student success.
  • Facilitates required faculty training course(s) in the use of the Learning Management System (LMS), required online faculty certification, and other professional development courses in distance education modalities.
  • Supports student orientation and faculty onboarding related to the Learning Management System (LMS) and educational technology, as needed.
  • Collaborates with academic leadership and other departments to support classroom educational technology tools, design and information literacy.
  • Provides helpdesk support for the Learning Management System (LMS) and related integrations and educational technology tools for students, faculty and staff.
  • Provides academic course quality assurance by conducting course audits and quality reviews at the direction of campus and/or statewide leadership, as needed.
  • Responsible for marketing and promoting LRC services across the campus in partnership with leadership and marketing staff.
  • Serves as a member of the statewide Ivy Tech Library Services Council (LSC) and the Statewide Tutoring Services group.
  • Maintain accurate and consistent records of LRC usage including tutoring labs, library services, and virtual services. Analyze data to adapt services to meet the changing needs of students.
  • Oversee and maintain physical inventory of textbooks and reference materials in LRC. Responsible for updating physical materials as needed.
  • Responsible for managing LRC budget.
  • Collaborate with the Director of TRIO to plan and deliver comprehensive student services, including academic coaching, tutoring, and other applicable supports outlined in the Campus Plan of Operation.
  • Participate in campus planning efforts and support for campus-wide events, including but not limited to: Convocation, Commencement, Student Orientation, Staff Orientation, etc.
  • Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned.
  • All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
