About The Position

Spring View Hospital is a 75-bed facility in Kentucky's Bluegrass Region, offering a full range of services including pain management, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, behavioral health services, wound care, and laboratory. This Director, Laboratory position is responsible for directing the laboratory department’s activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education
  • Progressive laboratory leadership experience in a healthcare environment
  • Experience working with healthcare providers and community outreach
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory and compliance standards, laboratory operations, quality assurance, and staff leadership
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to various personalities
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and related applications

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements.
  • Directs and evaluates laboratory operations including patient care testing, quality control, information systems, and compliance.
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities, budgeting, audits, and professional development.
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into operations.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Supports retention and growth of physician and referral relationships
  • Calls on local physician offices to educate on hospital services
  • Identifies and assists in resolving customer and service-related issues
  • Assists in coordinating and executing special events, including community outreach programs and hospital-sponsored activities
  • Organizes and coordinates physician-related activities and engagement initiatives
  • Plans and coordinates monthly community education programs, including speaker selection
  • Assists Director of Volunteers in growing volunteer and Senior Friends programs
  • Participates in Employee Recognition Committee meetings and follows up on assignments and documentation
  • Provides internal communication related to special projects and events
  • Assists with coordination and participation in hospital events, employee activities, exhibits, and expos
