About The Position

The Director, PMO is responsible for leading enterprise-wide IT project delivery with a focus on mitigating risk and ensuring execution excellence. They oversee the full project lifecycle, driving alignment with strategic goals and financial governance. This role will manage the IT portfolio to optimize resource allocation, prioritize initiatives, and track performance against KPIs. The Director, PMO will partner with stakeholders to enforce standards, resolve escalations, and maintain transparency across programs. This leadership position requires advanced ability to oversee enterprise IT project execution with emphasis on risk mitigation, delivery excellence, and strategic alignment. The ability to manage a complex portfolio of initiatives, balancing competing priorities, resource constraints, and cross-functional dependencies is required. They will be skilled in establishing and enforcing governance standards and driving transparency across programs. The Director, PMO will partner with Finance and business leaders to ensure compliance and measurable outcomes. The Director, PMO will work in a team environment collaborating with the PMO team, executive leadership, IT leaders, Information Security, Finance, HR, Operations, Legal and vendor partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in IT, or Business required, Master's in Business Administration preferred. 10+ years IT delivery leadership with 5+ years leading PMO/Portfolio. PMP/PgMP required; ITIL 4 Managing Professional preferred.
  • Proficient with PPM platform, financial planning systems, enterprise analytics (Power BI), ServiceNow, contract management tools.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with experience briefing C-suite and board members.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Expertise in leading and fostering collaboration across IT, business units, and external partners; building trust, inspiring high performance, and resolving conflicts constructively. Ability to mentor Project Managers and teams, enabling effective cross-functional collaboration and alignment with strategic organizational objectives.
  • Expert in prioritizing strategic initiatives, delegating effectively, managing multiple projects and stakeholders, optimizing schedules, and maintaining focus under competing demands to ensure timely portfolio delivery.
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking, systems-level problem solving, risk and issue resolution, decision-making under ambiguity, conflict resolution and influencing skills, adaptive and innovative thinking, and the ability to communicate complex problems and solutions clearly to executives.

Responsibilities

  • Define PMO operating model, methodology, and toolset, and drive continuous improvement. Own the project intake, prioritization, and capacity planning.
  • Align to OKRs and funding.
  • Establish risk governance, stage gates, and performance dashboards for executives. Develop and execute a talent strategy which includes hiring, coaching, and creating a succession plan.
  • Oversee vendor strategy and commercial management.
  • Champion change management and value realization across the enterprise.
  • Provide oversight of portfolio performance, set and enforce project delivery standards, approve investment recommendations and brief executive committees and boards on portfolio status and strategic impacts.
  • Own overall PMO operating budget, governing project and program budgets ($5M–$20M portfolio).
  • Lead the PMO team including Project Managers, Solutions Architect, Business Analysts, and IT Coordinator, fostering a high-performance culture and communities of practice.
  • Partner with CIO, CTO, Physical Security, CISO, Finance, HR, Legal, and business leaders and manage steering committees to drive alignment and decision making.
  • Establish PMI-aligned governance, lead Agile and hybrid delivery, and implement ITIL 4 service integration and management (SIAM) practices.
  • Define risk appetite and controls, and ensure audit and compliance. Oversee data governance intersection with delivery.
  • Lead change strategies and business adoption plans, and coordinate phased releases and cutovers across teams.
  • Establish vendor segmentation, scorecards, and sourcing strategies. Arbitrate vendor performance and disputes.
  • Oversee portfolio funding model, stage-gate investment processes, benefits realization practices, and executive-level reporting.
  • Enterprise road mapping, scenario planning, and capacity modeling with Finance and HR.
  • Define quality gates and independent QA processes, and lead delivery assurance reviews to ensure that project standards are met.
  • Portfolio on-time/on-budget (≥85%), benefits realization (≥90%), NPS of business partners (≥4.3/5), resource utilization (80–90%).
  • Provide strategic portfolio leadership with executive presence, apply financial acumen to guide decision-making, drive organizational change, lead cross-functional teams in a matrix environment, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Ensure that the appropriate team structure and members are in place for the team to achieve its goals and objectives, interviewing and selecting the most highly skilled candidate(s) for the team.
  • Provide regular and structured feedback, ensuring high performance.
  • Create an environment of collaboration and open communication.
  • Actively measure and enhance employee engagement by addressing team members’ concerns and providing opportunities for feedback.
  • Make strategic, data-driven decisions that balance short-term needs with long-term objectives. Ensure decisions align with company values and goals.
  • Lead the team in identifying and solving complex problems, breaking down challenges into manageable tasks, providing guidance on how to tackle them, and adopting processes for continuous improvements.
  • Coach and mentor team talent, setting clear priorities and success metrics. Develop leadership and influence skills for indirect management.
  • Periodic extended work hour with travel 15–25% as needed.
  • May lead and actively volunteers for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
