Job Description: The Director, IT Operations will provide strategic and hands-on leadership of SunState Medical Specialists’ IT Operations function, including the management of the Orlando datacenter, and infrastructure management at all 100+ practice locations. This role will ensure reliable operations, timely escalation of field support, and the successful delivery of infrastructure and cloud projects across the SMS organization. The Director will combine strong people leadership with deep technical expertise in infrastructure, networking, and cloud platforms to drive operational excellence, standardization, and scalability in support of OneOncology’s mission. This is a full-time, onsite position supporting clinics across multiple locations in Florida. The role requires up to 30% travel. Candidates must be based in Florida or Nashville, TN, and be able to travel regularly to clinic sites.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary IT operations teams in a high-growth or distributed environment.
  • Deep expertise with Microsoft 365 platform, cloud backup solutions, and system monitoring tools.
  • Strong technical expertise across infrastructure (networking, servers, storage), cloud services (AWS, Azure, or similar), and IT operations tooling.
  • Datacenter management experience, including network architecture, VMWare, & hybrid cloud environments.
  • Skilled in disaster recovery planning, system performance optimization, and operational resiliency.
  • Excellent people leadership skills with a track record of building high-performing, collaborative teams.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align IT investments and operations to organizational goals.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in IT Operations, including management of multi-disciplinary teams, budgets, and strategic initiatives.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to stay current with emerging networking technologies and industry trends.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical strategy, infrastructure management, and IT project execution for the entire SunState Medical Specialists practice in Florida.
  • Partner with the VP, IT Support and Director, IT Operations (OneOncology), and Sr. Director, IT Security to define and execute the SMS IT strategy aligned to company priorities.
  • Lead field support team members, ensuring successful onsite resolution of issues, and boots on the ground for project execution related tasks.
  • Partner with OO Network Operations Center team, utilizing RMM tools to manage, monitor, patch, and respond to alerts across all SMS infrastructure, including the datacenter.
  • Oversee tier 3 incident escalation processes for SMS, ensuring timely resolution of complex infrastructure and service-impacting issues.
  • Oversee and assist with the management of the PC lifecycle refresh process at SMS practice locations.
  • Manage IT Change Management, Major Incident Management, and Problem Management for SMS, aligning with OneOncology’s process.
  • Manage SMS IT business continuity and disaster recover planning, including backup and recovery plans.
  • Direct the delivery of IT infrastructure, cloud, and other projects at SMS, ensuring projects meet scope, schedule, and quality targets.
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve IT operations policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure high availability, security, and resilience.
  • Drive effective communication and collaboration between SMS IT resources and the centralized OneOncology support team.
  • Establish performance metrics and reporting to measure the effectiveness of SMS IT Operations and demonstrate value to the enterprise.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and budgets for infrastructure and cloud services related to SMS.
  • Other duties as assigned to help drive our mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.
