About The Position

The Director of IT Operations collaborates to align technology integration efforts to support Atlanta International School’s goals and vision 3K - 12. This includes: managing the infrastructure, short and long term project planning, purchasing, end-user support and training, vendors and outside services management. The IT Ops Director provides operational leadership on information technology, facilitates technology projects, and manages department operations to ensure the delivery of robust and reliable technology resources. The IT Operations Director reports to the Associate Head of School for Finance and Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • Seven plus years working in a school technology department.
  • Organized self-starter who enjoys assisting faculty and students with their learning
  • Strong familiarity with typical school hardware (desktops, laptops, printers, interactive projectors,) and typical software (Apple platform, G Suite including Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides, Microsoft Suite, web-based applications, licensing, databases, etc.)
  • Technical proficiency with networking, server management, cloud/SaaS platforms, device management (Jamf) and more.
  • Project management experience
  • Prior supervisory/management experience.
  • Excellent collaborative, interpersonal, and communications skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and advances the mission, vision and strategic plan of the school.
  • Supports student learning and achievement through cooperative effort and best practices.
  • Supports and promotes the 3K-12 curriculum in line with the IB.
  • Supports and advances language learning and intercultural education through technological services.
  • Develop technology plans that take into account current thinking and support the school.
  • Define and deliver cost effective, reliable, and secure technology solutions to the school.
  • Consult with school leaders and end users to understand how information technology can better support academic and administrative needs.
  • Develop and administer long range strategic planning for IT operations and infrastructure.
  • Anticipate the technology needs for existing, new and/or upgraded learning spaces.
  • Serve as a project manager for school-wide technology projects
  • Oversee and evaluate the deployment of all hardware, software, and systems from various perspectives, including: cost-effectiveness; customer satisfaction; compliance; asset management; migration and transition; and performance.
  • Oversee technology services, and ensure that the department remains responsive to support needs.
  • Ensure IT data security, risk management, disaster recovery and planning processes are in place and receive regular review for currency and adequacy.
  • Contribute to consultative discussions with school leadership teams.
  • Partner with different departments including admissions, communications, advancement, operations and the business office to provide efficient workflows for school operations and enhance the school’s web presence and communications.
  • Manage the current technology operations budget and forecast future budgetary needs.
  • Coordination with the communications team to support school web presence and internal/external communication.
  • Manage school policies that relate to appropriate and legal use of technology by students and employees.
  • Address student and faculty technology needs and collaborate on professional development with the Ed Council and other academic leaders.
  • Supervise the IT Operations personnel.
  • Planning, purchasing, deployment, maintenance, training, and support of all faculty, staff, and admin desktop, laptops, and tablets
  • Installation, support, and training of all classroom technology such as interactive projectors, Apple TVs, speakers, and other peripherals
  • Management of team responsible for the 1-1 program including purchasing and deploying new laptops, end-user technical support, accurate record keeping, and warranty replacements
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date and complete documentation of the school network, hardware, servers, systems, and recovery processes
  • Long and short term planning of technology purchases, upgrades, and system maintenance, including the creation and implementation of a multi-year technology plan

  • Coordinate and support emergency response system and school video surveillance with Director of Operations
  • Deployment of faculty/student technology devices
  • Lead the procurement of IT equipment and services
  • Demonstrates flexibility in navigating the dynamic nature of working in an international school environment.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively to engage all key constituents, thus promoting understanding, support, and continuous improvement of the school’s operational technology systems, programs and services in alignment with the mission, vision and strategic plan of Atlanta International School.
  • Ensures that the Open Communications Policy and Community Principles of Atlanta International School are supported through operational technology across the school community.
  • Keeps parent/student and faculty handbooks up-to-date with recent policies related to operational technology systems, programs and services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to work collaboratively with the community of Atlanta International School. Intercultural competence is key.
