About The Position

The Director, Investor Relations & Rating Agency Management is primarily responsible for the development and communication of Jackson's strategy and financial and operating performance to Rating Agencies. This role directs and supports the key objectives of the Investor Relations and Rating Agency Management team, to ensure that Jackson's goals are achieved and that there is consistency in messaging across rating agencies and the investment community.As a member of the Investor Relations and Rating Agency Management team, this role is critical to the success of Jackson's rating agency engagement and is essential to the following workstreams:o Contributing to development of external financial communications;o Analyzing key industry metrics and peer reporting;o Managing all rating agency reporting and communications;o Supporting Investor Relations internal presentations;o Engaging on key strategic initiatives; ando Maintaining relationships with partners across Finance and the broader business.

Requirements

  • Insurance and investment knowledge, technical financial skills, and a working knowledge of the complexities of various insurance products.
  • Working knowledge of the insurance industry, including an understanding of stock markets and accountancy rules and regulations for insurers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong database and internet research skills.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively across all areas of the organization and externally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to work to and within deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to act as a liaison with Jackson core function teams and group counterparts.
  • Ability to interpret critical and complex strategic elements of the organization into key messages.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Finance related field required.
  • 8+ years of experience required within the financial services and/or life insurance industry required.

Nice To Haves

  • Investor relations and/or rating agency experience preferred.
  • CPA or CFA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Represents Jackson with analysts and business managers of the rating agencies as the main point of contact. Develops that key relationship to protect Jackson’s financial strength and debt ratings.
  • Leads preparation of key communication materials for annual rating agency and management meetings and is proactive with respect to any Jackson-related events that could impact rating agency views.
  • Directs the newly established quarterly updates with each of the four rating agencies, producing presentation materials and preparing senior management with scripts and Q&As.
  • Coordinates the preparation and delivery of responses to surveys and general inquiries from the rating agencies, working with various departments across Jackson, including Actuarial, ALM, Distribution, and Investment Accounting.
  • Leads the process to produce and update methodology for internal models replicating the rating agency models. These are key models that the agencies use to assess Jackson’s capitalization, and a critical component of the overall financial strength rating.
  • Develops in-depth knowledge of key drivers of the rating agencies and monitors changes to methodologies used to assess companies.
  • Monitors peer ratings opinions and reports, any material unusual trends, or items to senior management.
  • Monitors peer earnings reports, including all published materials and conference calls, and updates senior management on key trends and topics, in preparation for Jackson’s quarterly earnings results.
  • Analyzes and communicates key competitor differences and comparative metrics to Jackson.
  • Assists with the development of shareholder communication documents, including quarterly slides, Q&As, etc.
  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
