About The Position

This job description provides a general overview of the responsibilities and expectations for this role. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, skills, or requirements. This role will be focused on the following areas: Develop and implement overall strategies and tactical plans for all forms of communications with capital market stakeholders (institutional investors, research analysts, important family office/retail investors, etc.) that are aligned with the Company’s business objectives Lead/work with the existing IR staff (based in Shanghai) for seamless coordination of IR activities across Asia and the U.S.; manage external IR vendors and agencies Establish and maintain smooth working relationships with internal constituencies (including but not limited to R&D, CMC, BD, AM/CD, Finance and Corporate Communications) to ensure proper information flow Supervise IR-related content creation (including investor presentations, earnings release script and Q&A, IR portion of the corporate websites, etc.) and collaborate with Corporate Communications, Legal & Compliance and Finance in developing and finalizing regulatory filings (20-F, 6-K and press releases) Support capital market projects (i.e., dual listings, follow-ons, spin-offs, etc.) under the leadership of CFO Maintain and update analytical models and performance metrics relevant for investors and analysts to evaluate performance of the sector and the Company

Requirements

  • Master's or an advanced degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related science field is preferred
  • Working knowledge of biotech and pharmaceutical regulations globally (in the U.S. and China), drug reimbursement environments, and other public policies that may affect the life sciences industry
  • Experience with, and a working knowledge of, SEC disclosure requirements strongly preferred
  • 10 years of combined professional experience in the following areas: (1) investor relations, corporate communications, and related areas in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, (2) investment banking or research analyst in the biotech sector, or (3) biotech buyside experience, highly preferred
  • 3 years of direct investor relations experience with a U.S. publicly-traded life sciences company with US$1 billion + market capitalization, speaking and presenting to investors and analysts preferred
  • Able to function independently without guidance and genuine ambition of success is a must
  • Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement when analyzing situations and processing information
  • Creative and strategic self-starter with the proven ability to develop and execute plans in both a timely and effective manner
  • Strong self-motivation and ability to take initiative properly – must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally; consummate team player
  • Relentless focus on and bias towards “making things happen” and “getting things done”
  • Proficiency with financial analysis, valuation and other analytical tools

  • Able to handle frequent U.S. domestic travel and 1-2 intercontinental trips every year

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain regular communications with investors and sell-side analysts, with an operational focus on the U.S.-based investors and analysts
  • Plan, organize, and execute IR activities, including major sell-side conferences, non-deal roadshows, ad hoc group or one-on-one investor calls/meetings, and investor R&D days (as needed)
  • Analyze shareholder composition trends and conduct investor targeting analysis at least quarterly
  • Serve as the primary contact/spokesperson for fielding investor calls, requests for information, and shareholder inquiries, and provide accurate, consistent, and timely responses (with a practical focus on those from the U.S. time zone)
  • Create and manage all investor relations core materials, including corporate presentations, conference call scripts, talking points, and Q&A documents
  • Work with other internal functions (Corporate Communications, Legal & Compliance, and Finance) to develop, edit, and finalize Form 20-F, 6-K, press releases, and other regulatory filings and documents
  • Manage existing IR staff in the Asia time zone and ensure seamless coordination in all cross-time zone activities and initiatives
  • Function as the most senior IR/capital market champion inside the Company; establish and maintain connectivity with R&D, CMC, BD, Finance, and PR, etc.; actively participate in and contribute to internal senior leadership discussions and forums on strategy setting and key decision-making
  • Keep executive leadership informed of and up-to-date on (1) investor and analyst perceptions of the company and (2) important market, sector, and peer developments
  • Manage third-party IR vendors, advisers, and event planners
  • Manage IR portion of the corporate websites and social media presence (WeChat, Twitter and LinkedIn)
  • Keep DCF models for corporate as well as asset-level valuation
  • Track models and metrics utilized by analysts to value/evaluate company performance
  • Prepare, update, and manage the investor database to record and summarize all investor and sell-side analyst contacts
  • Provide support to key capital market transactions (dual listings, follow-ons, spin-offs, etc.) under the guidance of the CFO
  • Support other initiatives and projects on an ad-hoc and as-needed basis
  • Other duties as assigned
